California List of SoCal members who like to go off-roading

I'm interested in a run to Ocotillo, Anza Borrego Desert or Valley of the Moon (off hwy 8) in December if anyone is looking to wheel.

There is Easy, Moderate and Difficult trail options. Also, do another meet up in Jan and possibly monthly if that works.

I have run Pumpkin Patch, Calcite Mine, Fonts Point, Pinyon Mt (Aka Heart Attack hill - going down not up) and my opinion this is nothing more than a steep controlled decent).

A little further East (off Hwy 8) is a fun trail called Valley of the Moon. This run you would probably need a minimum of 33" tires unless your not concerned with rock strikes. If we were to run this trail and complete it NLT 2pm (latest) you can go across hwy 8 and drive the Old stagecoach road trail.

I'm approximately an hour from Ocotillo and Valley of the Moon.

I’d like to compile a list of the SoCal members who like to go off-roading and would like to be tagged in run announcements. Just reply to this thread and I’ll update the original post with your name in it. When making a run announcement simply copy and paste the names below into your post and all names on the list will receive a notification that their name was mentioned in a post.

Doran/Odessa canyon loop is rated as difficult, with waterfall climbs and rock gardens. I have not done this trail yet

Not too bad, I have not done the hardcore gate keeper, our group bypasses it. The one waterfall isn’t too bad with a spotter. There is one very narrow spot coming down Odessa. I would say 33’s and at least one locker will get you through no problem.

I just moved back to the Southern California area and would love to be added to the list! I went over to the Mica Gem Mine trail the other weekend and excited to explore more of what SoCal has to offer.

I’m heading to big bear tomorrow to offroad in the snowstorm that’s being called the storm of the year . Lots of fresh tracks to be laid, if anyone else is going up let’s connect

What trail are you going to run?

Plan is to run Coxey trail 3N14 to Holcomb valley 3N16 . Snowfall is expected to be 3-4’ so many trails and spots may be impassible but these two routes are the easiest to navigate in deep snow . Haven’t decided whether I will camp there or run in for the day . I expect to leave through Coxey as well

No wheeling for me. I’ll be going to Vegas in my friends Awd crv on Friday morning. I read the 15 was closed this morning cause of the snowstorm. I hope will be okay passing.
Be safe out there.

We went to dishpan from green valley Sunday, we turned around when we got to the shaded side. It was a ice flow down the center of the trail.

Do you pick up 3n 14 behind silver wood lake ?

conditions are absolutely crazy in big bear , by tomorrow Holcomb valley will be virtually impossible at almost 5’ deep at points . Even deep into Coxey is getting dumped on 2-3’
