Does anyone make mounting hardware for the Mopar factory side steps?

Totally unsuccessful trip to Grainger. The lady was actually an a-hole. She was kind of laughing at the fact that I was trying to mount rivet nuts myself and was basically saying they’ll never be secure enough when mounted with a hand tool and an air tool costs thousands of dollars. Wasn’t helpful in trying to figure out what size I needed, didn’t walk 2 steps out the door to look at the hole. Said I should take it to a shop and have it done the right way.

I’m not a dummy and I’m fairly mechanically inclined; this CANNOT be that hard, can it?? 😂

Alright, I'm pretty much done with this. How many nutserts and bolts do you need? I also have the limited use setting tools. Count them up, send me a private message with the quantity and a shipping address and I'll get them on the way.

That is extremely generous of you but I also don’t want to be a bother!! I apologize for this whole thing. Truly thought it’d be a simple swap and something off my laundry list of things to do to my Jeep that I could manage myself.

I literally have 1000's of various size nutserts and more than a few setting tools. It isn't a bother.

For what it's worth, these are the directions that came with the steps I bought new (very bad photo copies) for our 2004.

They used bent threaded rods (poor description) to go through the frame into the step brackets.

Nutserts seem to be a better alternative and Mr Blaine will get you the correct ones. Sorry no part numbers on the sheets.

There are at least two versions, that one and then the earlier one that has just nutserts with bolts at 4 places per support. The OEM bolts are 8mm and they are the same hole size as the 5/16-18.
