So I am replacing my motor mounts......I was thinking it couldn't be that difficult since I got the old passenger side quickly and put in the new replacement but lo and behold when I try finishing up the job I thought I could just lift the motor through the pan and have everything line up easy peasy lol....but I have ended up buying a harbor freight engine support bar.....and are having a damn hard time aligning the motor bracket to the mount even with that.....any pointers guys...I feel stumped

When I changed my OEM mounts for the lower ones, I remember having my buddy prying against the engine to get it the bolt to align. It was NOT pleasant.

It‘s been a while since I did it, but I seem to recall a lot of cursing and a ratchet strap being involved.

I had a good answer for you, then I reread your post. You need to keep the passenger side loose. Might not even hurt to loosen the mounting bracket on the block. To remove the driver side, I would just remove the entire driver side from the bracket on the block. When you reinstall everything it needs to go back in relatively loose to get it lined up. I did mine on the TJ and my old Cherokee with a 4x4 block and a jack supporting underneath. Then you can manipulate the engine as needed to tip it where it needs to be.

Update....I had to use a 3 dirrenet jacks.....I disconnected the transmission mount and have a jack holding it down.....have another jack holding the oil pan...and finally one small bottle jack to jack up the motor right below the passenger mount.....doing this and loosening the engine bracket that holds the motor mount to the frame...I have successfully...put in one side of the bolt.....I am tired form all the finickinf around with the jacks and getting up and down ...but I when I finally finish this mount....
