I bought a few cans of the SEM black Trim Paint a while back, based on recommendations here.
I’ve never used it.

If you have used this paint, I am curious what bits you have used it on…

I haven't used Trim Black but have used quite a bit of Color Coat. I'd use the Trim Black on any black trim pieces such as mirrors, license plate mount, milk jugs, sway bar cover, etc. I recommended following the prep procedures and SEM soap, plastic prep and adhesion promoter.

I've used the Landau Black on fender flares. Turned out really nice.

The sound bar and exterior door trim pieces. Make sure and scuff the piece, use an adhesion promoter, then paint with SEM. Actually, for better results follow exactly the procedure they recommend.

I did the door latches with Krylon two part, paint/prime in Satin Black. Came out amazing. Minimal prep other than scuffing and cleaning. Truth told, this two part paint is why I have not used the SEM Trim Paint

I have not used Trim Black, but I do use Landau Black on just about any plastic or vinyl piece that I want to restore. Like others have said, and like you probably already know, it's all in the prep.

Any recommendations for removing paint from plastic?
More specifically, I want to remove the Sahara gloss black from a set of fender flares.

Your better off to scuff it with an abrasive and paint them. Use a red scotch bright and or plastic scuff I think it’s called from napa. Then paint them.
