I ordered a pair of ARB lockers and 4.10 gears for my TY recently. I was quite confident that I have a Dana 30 in the front and a Dana 44 in the rear. At least that is what the spec sheet says: https://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/BuildSheetServlet?vin=1J4F449SX3P346380
DANA 30/186MM FRONT AXLE
3.07 REAR AXLE RATIO
HEAVY DUTY DANA 44 REAR AXLE
TRAC-LOK DIFFERENTIAL REAR AXLE
So, the mechanic asked me to come in for a splice count to make sure they order the right parts. They counted 27 splines front and rear. According to the ARB parts list, this indicates a Dana 30 front and a Dana 35 rear as there were never a Dana 44 with only 27 splines. I was baffled, because I also checked the shape of the rear diff and to me it looks like a Dana 44 cover but of course I could be wrong...
So, what do I really have? Here some images:
Unfortunately the previous owner lost the tags that are normally bolted on.
This is the front axle
What axles are these? Has there ever been a Dana 44 with 27 splines? Any help is highly appreciated!
Cheers,
Andy
