Air compressor quick connect

Sorry, I know there's got to be a thread already in here but I've been searching and can't find the info I need.

I have an onboard compressor, looking to put a quick connect for airing up on front bumper. What kind of hose do I need for the extension? I know there's a concern about heat so not to use traditional compressor hose. Should the hose be 1/4" or 3/8 diameter? Attachments should all be 1/4 NPT? Also saw something about putting a crutch tip as a cover, is this a pretty snug fit... something that will stay on? Thanks in advance for the info
 
This is the hose I put next to my arb compressor to handle the heat generated. My quick connect is at the end and if I need the hood closed to move my Jeep I just run 50’ hose through the grill and wrap the hose around the winch.

I use a 1/2” nylon air brake line from the compressor to a block then a 3/8” nylon line to the front and rear. I have 2 shut off valves one on the inlet to the block and one is a air dump, I have a hose that tees to attach to two tires at a time. I can air down or up and read the pressure at the gauge.

If your compressor has a decently high CFM rating, like 2 CFM or higher, 3/8" hose will make a difference. Otherwise 1/4" is fine.

Be sure to select a 'universal' type female quick connect so it will take both common types of male fittings.

Like ths one on my previous TJ's rear bumper...

The crutch tip cover works well IF the diameters work out. The quick disconnects vary in size a bit, so YMMV. My compressor came with a high temp hose that is connected to a manifold that then distributes the air via plastic tubing. I have outlets in both front and back.

No problem with the hose melting, I have had the same hose on for over 4 years. No leaks from the push connect fittings either. The only issue with the nylon is bend radius. The nylon is not as flexible as a rubber hose but it is durable. They use it on all the semi chassis.the compressor I have has the manifold mount to the compressor so that may dissipate the heat some before it hits the hose. The nylon air brake hose is rated between 150-200F.

I originally used 3/8" hose but found it took a while to air the hose up after connecting to air.
I went to Flexilla 1/4" very flexible and doesn't take up a lot of air, coils up nicely and fits under passengers seat. I have only one Milton quick connect up front and the hose reaches all around my vehicle.

If you go to Home Depot they have a black chair tip that will go right over a female hose fitting perfectly to keep it clean
