I have an onboard compressor, looking to put a quick connect for airing up on front bumper. What kind of hose do I need for the extension? I know there's a concern about heat so not to use traditional compressor hose. Should the hose be 1/4" or 3/8 diameter?

I used a 22" length of Easton high pressure, high temperature 3/8" hose as a leader hose that I sourced from my local NAPA (expensive @ $4.95/ft., but I didn't need much). Many jeepers use a piece of regular air line and never suffer any problems. If they do, it is easy and cheap to replace.

All of my brass quick disconnects are Milton brand from Harbor Freight - readily available, relatively inexpensive, easy to replace if necessary.

I use a 1/4" Flexzilla hose from the disconnect to air chuck. 3/8" hose is bulky and not as easy to store as 1/4" and the difference in airflow for the typical 12v compressor is nearly undetectable. [Note: The ARB CKMA12 compressor may produce 3.08 cfm at zero psi, but at a typical working pressure of 29 psi it produces only 2.3 cfm, thus no real benefit to the larger hose even if one subscribes to Jerry's theory that it begins to matter at 2 cfm.)

My writeup is here:

Just to clarify - Harbor Freight's brand of couplers is not Milton. It's Merlin, and they chose that name to be obfuscatory (it's working!) Milton is a long-time USA manufacturer of industrial pneumatic components. Merlin is a Chinese copy. (in the spirit of fairness, Milton sells Chinese-made stuff, too)
