Hey everyone,

I could really use everyone’s help with something because I’m just simply stumped and I can’t think of anything else it could be. I have a low frequency noice that only begins at 30mph and goes away at 40mph. It does not change with changing gears, going into neutral, clutch in or out, raising the rpm’s, front driveshaft off, rear driveshaft off, the only thing that makes this noise happen is between 30-40. I’ve also checked all fluids and condition. It also only happens when it’s cold outside, but doesn’t change when the car warms up. If someone could lend a suggestion that I haven’t thought of please do I’m at a loss

I’ll try shifting through the transfercase to see if it goes away. The tires I’m running at the BFG KM3 but it doesn’t sound like tire noise, they’re also only a year old. I’m kinda convinced it might be wheel bearing. I replaced them two years ago with SKF but maybe they’re giving out. I’m going to test for any play in them as well

Feel the rear axle ends for rough bearings also.

How does one go about testing the rear axle bearings? Same way as the front? Or do I need to take the drum off?

Jack up one back wheel make sure the brakes are not dragging at all and roll the wheel back and forth feeling for roughness.

Well I just tested the front wheel bearings for play/noise and the rear axle bearings and nothing. Don’t have enough time to cycle the 4wd but will try this weekend

If not wheel bearings I’m not sure what it is. Doesn’t change pitch when turning. Literally will only make the noise between 30-40 and goes away immediately it’s not even like the other noises of the car are masking it

This is an audio file. Notice the noise goes away at 11 and comes back at 14. Not when I downshift but rather I was going up a hill and slowed down below 30 and then got back up to 35ish

I do have a light bar and checked everything that could be making a noise. I did hear the noise between 20-40 now. It goes away at 30 exactly and then comes back at 25. I’m going to listen to it more but it definitely is from the front I just need to hear maybe what side. I’ll keep you all posted
