Turbo Kit Test TJ

Can you give a +-$500 price swag? Will it start out as a base kit with options or is this a turn key minus tune?

Yeah, it will be right at 5k for everything minus the tuning. That does include the air to water as well as injectors and a MAP sensor.

Also, I did manage to source an intercooler from a different supplier. It should be here in a few days and we will set it up on the jigs to confirm fitment. Good news is if it fits they have more than 50 in stock.

This is a bit off topic here, but I thought it deserved a mention. The topic of spool and lag comes up frequently when turbocharging is discussed. When a modern turbo is properly sized for the application and paired with a free flowing intake and exhaust spool time is reduced to a minimum. Most folks remember the 80s cars with the huge lag times. The newer computer designed and optimized turbochargers are worlds away from those 80s designs. This is a video I took this morning on my LJ. The basic parts of my LJ system are similar to the kit. My LJ has a much larger turbo and 3 inch exhaust. Other than that it is a stock 4.0 with a 42rle running about 5psi of boost. This was flooring the throttle from a dead stop. Boost is up over 4psi within 2 seconds of being throttled up. Please excuse the poorly shot video and my messy vehicle. 🤣

I'm going to need more videos haha.

I think we have stablished this kit in stock form will be no good for a RHD due to some of the differences of layout in the engine bay. I would though be very interested in the parts list, included which are off the shelf and which you are having fabricated. That way I may be able to work out how much could work and what would need to be reconfigured for RHD.

What ever happened to the turbo kits?

Both kits have sold. We will be reordering turbos asap and I will let everyone know when they are back in stock again.

Dammit! Forum members? That’s what you get for thinking about it… same thing happened w/ Savvy parts a while back🙄

I'm not sure the distributor would be a problem, but the a/c compressor would be in the way for sure.

I must have missed it, why can’t this kit work with the earlier years?

Somehow I missed that as well. So I guess I'm outta luck with '97 which has a 4.6L Golen stroked '92 block with 7120 head and '97 PCM stock tune?
