Let's see your American Racing AR23s

when I bought the TJ it had polished AR23 and the clear coat was rough, I mean bad….

I sanded the clear coat off and hit them with some Rustoleum gloss black… paint is holding up well but some of the rivets are falling out…

Lot's of options for easier upkeep if I wanted painted wheels. My TJ is black and while the black AR23's look killer on your TJ I don't like the black on black look. Is that color a factory color?

Although they are clear coated and shouldn't need polishing I've abandoned the AR23's. Another member who lives in the NE and has AR23s share a few pics of the failing clear coat. @97JadeTJ notes as well. Dealing with damaged clear coat is likely worse than having to polish the ProComps. So, to this point I have done nothing with regard to replacing what I have. Polishing them isn't horrible, only time consuming. I just did it again last week in preparation for winter since my TJ is a DD.

The upkeep is only one factor in my search for new wheels.. I have 15x10 installed by the PO and I want 15x8 or 8.5.

Good to know about the AR23's. I still like them and will consider them since my LJ is not a DD. But now I'm leaning towards the Mickey Thompsons. Thank you for the info.

AR23's look good. Maybe they would be great if the Jeep wasn't a DD, it was stored indoors, and/or the wheels weren't exposed to salt or brine. Thank you for the pics.

MikekiM - I am in the same boat. Black on black. (I'm trying to post a few more times so I can start reacting to other posts. I think I need 20 first.)
@Jerry Bransford has/had them and in his neck of the woods they were fine. Others weren't as lucky.

I see. And from the pics, they can hold up to some heavy wheeling. So they may be worth the gamble. I'm starting to like the look more and more.

This is Sledgehammer in 2003 with my previous TJ's AR23s in Johnson Valley CA, though I did break the steering box a hundred yards further up that trail lol.
