Anybody use a hood lock?

Thinking about getting a lock for my hood. I see one made by Tuffy (part 137-01). Anyone use this one or other types?

I have the Tuffy hood lock. I don't know if my installation is unique but i had to "clearance" part of the safety latch. It works fine now, though.

I've had mine for 5 years at least. Never had any issue with it. Just have to get it positioned just right to work properly.
When opening I have to slightly put pressure on the side to clear the lock.

Got one on my jk. “Bolt” is the brand if I remember correctly and it uses the ignition key as the key to unlock/lock it. When you get the lock you put your key in to set the tumblers and you’re good to go. Easy install and one less key to hang on the chain.

I really like the idea of using ignition key in the lock, and not having another key on keychain. Doesn't look like Bolt makes one for TJ's, only JK & JL.
 
Yeah just looked myself and they don’t make them for the tj. I’ll check mine out later and see if they are interchangeable. I do know my jk key and my tj key will both fit in the others keyhole. 😵‍💫
 
I use a hole drilled in the latch with a padlock inserted. There's a vid on youtube, just search for how to lock your Jeep's hood. Apparently, it is disabled for playing on other sites. Anyway, it took about 15 mins to install and works fine.

TJ Jim did you check to see if the Bolt would work on a TJ?

Any pics of where you guys drill for the padlocks and what they look like installed?
 
I installed the Tuffy hood lock. Install was weird as I thought it should fit "square," or straightly aligned, but after calling Tuffy, they said it fits on a slight angle. I kind of like it, but do have the extra key issue.

Nope it doesn’t look like the jk bolt lock will work on the tj hood. The tj safety latch opens/locks front to back. The jk safety latch goes passenger to driver to unlatch. Don’t honk even with some major modifications it could work. 😩
