So I asked here before and the only good response was valve stem seals. Been there and done that and no fix.
Going down an hill/mountain she smokes. None on startup and none just going down the road. Only when going down a hill when
engine braking.
Compression is near factory values for all 6 cylinders. Someone mentioned a possible intake manifold problem.
Any thoughts ?? Anyone ?? Please ??

TIA

The only thing that comes to mind is excess oil in the valve cover baffle being sucked back in the intake via the PCV valve on downhill slopes. Is there excess oil in the PCV line, intake tube, do you have aftermarket valve rockers or cover? Just trying to think outside the box before suggesting your oil control rings are shot/broken...

All is factory. Valve cover removal is VERY clean. No sludge or anything foreign. None eof the spark plugs are indicating any signs of oil burning.
NEVER no smoke til engine braking. Can it be ANYTHING else besides the rings ?? I would think there would be more symptoms if it was rings.

Stem seals been replaced. CCV maybe but what could Be wrong in the CCV system ??

What normally happens is that the orifice in the rear elbow that is connected to the intake manifold becomes clogged, and oil is then pushed out through the front elbow and into the air intake hose. This usually results in an oily air filter.

That's what happened to my wife's crappy old KJ aka Liberty.

FWIW, I have the same problem with my '98 TJ. Only burns oil when going downhill with hard engine braking. I always assumed it's a piston ring issue as they are original (220k miles). The issue seemed to get worse this past summer. To me, that's further evidence of tired rings... I'm interested in what others are advising.

I wish it was that easy but nope. No prob there. Very puzzled here !!!!

Have you checked engine vacuum, within spec? Possibly worn valve guides, not stem seals that you already addressed.

I’m not sure how to check this but that might be next. It runs so well, smooth with lots of torque and power.
