Not asking anyone to Google for me. Just wondering if anyone else has done this and has a link.

Removed the wiper from my hard top glass. Now want to plug the hole. 1" interior diameter and 1/5" thick glass.

I can find plenty of 1" plugs, but none for a material that thick. Anyone else done this or have a recommendation?

Older hardware stores

I have had clear packing tape over the two holes in rear glass since I took out the motor. I dont mis having the wiper and the wiring seemed complicated (and hard to find for an LJ). There is a hole for the washer nozzle also. I cant say I've spent a lot of time on it but I have been looking for a couple of years and so far have not found a solution.

Speed reading through the thread titles I sure thought at first glance this is sounded way more vulgar and erotic than it turned out to be, and I'll admit, I am slightly disappointed ............

Check McMaster-Carr I would think they should have something that would fit and seal properly.
They are rarely the cheapest, but the do tend to have a good selection.

I used the little bushing plates and bushings from the top of an old shock absorber. Bolted through the glass in a sandwich, cut the bolt short after tightening. Done.

I used a 1/4" screws and nuts with fender washers on both holes. Just fill the cavity with black ATV, let it squish out and wipe off the excess.
Its been that way for over 18 leak free years.
But, not butt, plugs would look cleaner though.

Depth doesn’t matter if you silicone them in- rtv works best with water long term.

I have never heard of ( 1/5" thick glass ) or is it just me

I found a standard black plastic plug that fits perfectly and looks almost OEM at my local ACE hardware. It was around 60 cents. It was in the hardware section by all the furniture bits and pieces. I wish I could give you more info, but that's all I know about it. When it gets very cold, about once a year, it pops out (contraction) and I pop a new one in the next time I'm at at the store.

I went back through my orders. They’re called sheet metal and auto body plugs. The one for the main wiper motor is a 1” (this is the size of the tapered press fit area, not the overall diameter). You can buy a lifetime supple for Amazon for $11

Thanks. Have you actually tried this? Reason I ask is the Amazon listing says it's for a max material thickness of 0.08", whereas the 3/16" glass is 0.1875.

Ok, for now I've sandwiched together some black plastic washers rubber washers—one of each on each side. Acorn nut on the inside of the bolt.

I've been using them for about 3 years now and I've gone through 4 plugs. I put a coating of super glue on the inner ring of the plug and it stays in the hole for about a year, on average. The fit is great, but as you've stated, the inner lip is designed for a thinner medium, which is why they pop out from time to time. I wanted something that had an OEM look to it and this was the best I could come up with

Have you tried Home Depot.

Something like this

They should have individual ones in their drawers.

Thanks. I was looking for something more water-tight. For now I've sandwiched together some black plastic washers rubber washers—one of each on each side. Acorn nut on the inside of the bolt.

Plug

I know it says the inside thickness is 1/16, but for 8 bucks, I'd take a gamble and see if I could get it to fit. Looks like it would be clean if it stretches enough to seat the glass in the groove.
