Another install OPDA question

Use a small screwdriver, allen key etc as a pin to verify it's aligned. Pull it out. Inspect. Use large screwdriver to position oil pump drive slot. Drop it back in with the "pin" in place. Remove "pin."

Thanks for the response. Do you mean a long screwdriver that you run down into the block the twist the slot so that it lines up with the shaft of the OPDA? If so, will that move your cam gear out of timing?
 
That is the oil pump. As you pull the OPDA out it will turn. The only thing that matters is that the OPDA is pinned when it goes back in. However, the oil pump slot determines where the cam sensor ends up pointing. You don't want it up against the block, etc.

If you twist it out slowly it should go back in the same way and oil pump slot shouldn't move, some peoples have but mine never.
Make sure what you use as a pin is thick enough to keep the 2 holes lined up perfect when it is out for inspection
Mark the o,clock position when it's in and pinned and o'clock position when its out somewhere on the engine, that way you can start it back in same position it was when removed.

Does it have to be at TDC just to pull it out and check?
Or is that just for replacement; or just if things get all out of whack?
