Proof that God loves Jeeps!

My son was an F/A-18 Hornet pilot when he was in the active duty Marine Corps & he told me that he has seen some rainbows that made a complete circle from the cockpit. ‘Too bad he never got any pics. They didn’t last very long at those speeds.
I guess God loves Hornets too.

You know you can see how much visibility the pilot has in that photograph- That must be one more of a ride at those speeds- And I bet that aircraft carrier looks like a postage stamp from a distance.

He will never regret his time doing that.

A lot of those guys get some good jobs later helping contractors with fitment into the aircraft and everything else-

Some of the most impressive people I meet around here are guys that got into the military when they were young - they are out in their early 40s, working for a contractor three days a week or so with all kinds of great benefits.

Not a bad gig. They deserve it for the commitment they made- Joining the military is giving the government a blank check with your life.

Thanks so much! Yes, my son is in his early 40s & has moved his commission to the USMC Reserves & is done flying military fighters. His day job now is flying Boeing 777s internationally for FedEx. As a parent, I am very glad that he is now going overseas for a different reason than getting shot at. ☺️

Double rainbows are reverse reflections.

There are other rainbow like phenomena like fogbows.

Others mentioned that pilots have seen the full circle rainbows.

There's a reason for this behind the optical physics of light and water droplets.

I've seen lots of full circle rainbows from my window seats on airplanes. It just means the sun is directly behind me in the direction I am looking. This is true of all rainbows.

There is also the interesting phenomenon of the Brocken Spectre where the rainbow observer's shadow is cast onto the rainbow. These are sometimes mistaken as a supernatural event.

I have seen it only one time, but there is also a phenomenon called light pillars that happens when there is suspended ice crystals in the sky. It's pretty beautiful and I've read that in the past it used to be mistaken for supernatural stuff as well.

Image from Google. It's even more stunning in reality. The conditions to cause it are rare though.

Here’s the deal- No matter what we do at the end of the day our kids are going to walk out the door and become the people they choose to be-

It is a fearful experience- Mainly because you know more than they know about what the consequences can be for bad choices.

One of the best gifts a child can give their parents is to go out and be a person of substance and value.

I have seen some children grow up and literally give their parents some true grief.

I will never know your son, but I know what a winner looks like.

that image has been played with. when i get home i’ll see if i can post up some photos of light pillars.

every source of light makes them when cold enough. even headlights

I think that image is jsut traffic lights and street lights (and a slightly overexposed photo).

I have seen stuff like this on cold but clear and sunny winter mornings in Oregon.

watched light pillars for 6 years. along with aurora borealis. with the naked eye, absolutely amazing to watch.

i’ve just seen too many people tweak and image that it no longer closely represents the real thing.
