Looks like the interior color code on my TJ is K5AZ. Charcoal grey. Looking to paint my faded door panels over the winter.

What paint am I looking for to match it and where best to buy it?

Thank you.. that sure looks right.

You might consider using a baking soda mixture before committing to paint. I used it on a faded junkyard center console. It came out looking like new. Total cost was $0.72.

I’ve seen that technique. Haven’t tried it. My door panels are in great condition with the exception of the very top that sees direct sun. It has faded circles. I did the heat gun treatment a while back. It didn’t last and actually looks worse now.

Hope this isn't hi-jacking a thread. But does anyone know the paint code for my silver center console and dash bezel in my 2005 LJ? I will be adding a double din radio and new center stack console soon and know I will have to paint it if I wish it to match the dash bezel.

Finally got around to remedying the faded door panels. The pictures above are from when I purchased the Jeep. Since then the fading has gotten worse..

A local body shop that I used for replacing the passenger front fender that had started to show a spot of rust suggested I dye the door cards. They did an absolutely amazing job with them

Yes.. these are the same spot panels. The color match is perfect. The finish looks brand new. Cost me $100.

I would recommend taking it to a body shop or automotive paint shop to possibly get it matched.

they have the grey, tan and black color codes easily found. can't believe I can't find after two days of googling the silver code. I just know its out there.

I’m talking about having an automotive paint guy match it. Not hard to do for a trained tech.

If you need a paint code, Google “Jeep tj build sheet” and go to whatever result takes you to the official FCA website. Input your VIN to see what options your Jeep came with. It’s possible the color is listed there.

Copy that, I appreciate it and understood.

As for the build sheet, did that already. (relevant exert below, as well as .pdf of the build sheet). From FCA it just says "silver". My comment above was just reflecting how the other dash paint codes are easily found online. My wish was to order the paint from my chair, I am fortunate to not ever had to bother a body shop before and wouldn't know which one will take a walk in looking to buy a spray paint can of paint. But it is looking like I am going to have to start looking for one that does in the Jacksonville, FL area.

Is it possible the two trim pieces were painted after the build? What trim package do you have?

You must have the Rocky Mountain edition. That had the silver instrument panel bezel.

Found this.... after going down the rabbit hole of "what is a rocky mountain edition.... While mine isn't one, it is a unique package for the model year.

I found that after finding some youtube video that was essentially reading word for word a post from here by Chris... this one: https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/wrangler-tj-stock-specifications.71/

Where that thread led me to another website where I took the screenshot from. https://sites.google.com/site/jeepchanges/?pli=1

I am sad to report that after all this hunting I am still unable to identify the specific paint code to order some SEM dye/paint. But I have called 3 different paint suppliers for auto body shops and only 2 have laughed at me (well figuratively) and told me that their paints aren't for interiors. The other guy said, hes not afraid to try but he is pretty sure what I am trying to do will not work.

My new center bezel and radio should be arriving this week, I may just paint it black like the rest of the dash, but I am really still hopeful to make it look similar to stock. Time will tell......

Unfortunately the company (Collins and Aikman) that made the bezels on my LJ closed back in 2007 so there probably aren't any paint color records left. They listed the color as "Stainless" on the parts tag. If you have a shop with SEM color chips you could compare the color with your current bezel. I'd guess their titanium metalic would be the closest.

My silver bezels had faded and looked dirty so I replaced them with black. After looking at some SEM titanium results I might give it a try when the weather warms up. Here's a picture I found of the color comparison on a Range Rover bezel.
