Considering selling extremely clean TJ

I listed and then backed out of selling my Rubicon several times before I actually let it go. I hated to sell it but had lost my job. Luckily the guy I sold it to, asked me if I wanted it back after 2 years because it just sat in his garage. He sold it back to me for $5,000 less too.

That's amazing! I freaking love TJs and this one is just awesome given PO was only owner and kept in heated garage. I feel I might be back years later if I do sell it!

If you don’t have to sell it I would seriously think this through if you love them. It sounds like you have a perfect specimen and will regret selling real quick. Good luck, only negative as mentioned too nice to wheel and mod.

Yep! I had a planned to do some really high end upgrades after studying this form extensively. Couldn’t pull the trigger as I think it’s so great. Having a hard time listing it.

I was essentially in this same boat when I sold my 2000 Sahara with 56k on it a couple of years ago. I was getting into heavier wheeling and couldn’t stand the thought of destroying it. So I sold it and got the Rubi I have now. But I miss it dearly, my favorite Jeep by far.

Keep it. Get the paint ceramic coated and wheel it as is. The coating will keep the scratches and pinstripes to a minimum.
If you still like it, then do some necessary and tasteful mods for it to perform at the level you want.

That's a beautiful place to live..

Oh, and to the OP.. don't sell it. Got a feeling you'll regret it.

I do every time....until I find something better. Still looking for an 02' auto with a Dana 44.

I have a 2000 I purchased about two years ago. Like you, I searched for a while and consumed a lot of gas and tire wear traveling to look at misrepresented specimens offered. Really hard to find one in the NE that hasn't been molested or neglected. This one was stored in the back of a Jeep dealership, inside, and owned and serviced by one of the Master Mechanics that worked there. He bought it new in 2000 and it has lived in the NE all its' life. Probably saw a lot of the outer beaches given how much sand I've found in the rails and behind the bumpers. One other owner who had it for about a year and put 7 miles on it.

Frame was and is near perfect, though I've done Fluid Film and POR15 as preventative given it's my daily driver. Not ready to make it a driveway queen. I bought it with 56k on the clock and just turned 80k. I can't imagine driving anything else in the warm weather.. I smile like a little kid every time I get in it. A little challenging in the NE winters but even with soft top only I am thoroughly happy driving it. Not a spot of rust (I replaced the passenger front fender when a small bubble appeared). Re-geared from 3.73's to 4.56's.. likely the best mod I have done. Right now, it needs nothing. Paint is on the low end of 'almost perfect', the engine bay could use a good detailing and I just started to hear a rattle at the tailgate that I need to trace down, but otherwise I get in, drive and smile. Toying with changing the bumpers, but then I think.. why? Stockers are period correct and work as needed.

Not trying to sound like a douche, but I can drive pretty much anything that tickles my fancy and I choose the TJ. My friends, wife and daughter bust my balls all the time. But Regret is a wicked bitch. I avoid her at all costs. So no plans to sell it any time soon.

Love this color combo. I have a '98 Moss Green Sahara. Mine has 160k miles on it, but it was a Cali Jeep before I bought it so the frame is spotless, and it is relatively clean everywhere else. Mine has 1.5" H&R springs and 31" BFGs on the same wheels, which was all the modding I could do to it because it was so clean. It basically looks OEM+.
