My wife an I are planning a trip to Moab for my B-day. We will be leaving 3/18 coming back 3/26. Gonna road trip out in our Jeeps, me in my TJ, She will be in her JKU. Plan on leaving Moab Friday and heading to Four corners, then Grand Canyon for a day. We are planning on hitting Arches as we are staying right by the park. We have never been to Moab before, any tips or advise? Good places to eat or must see stuff? If anybody will be out there let me know so we can hit a trail / grab a beer.

Moab Garage is great breakfast, Gilberto's was surprisingly good Mexican food, Milt's is a must do in Moab. Pretty much anything else I've had food wise is just fine (other than Jax, which I think is pretty poor overall).

If you enjoy any adult beverages look into Utah's laws - they're a bit interesting and note their DUI limit is the lowest in the nation (pretty sure my wife would hit it with a single drink).

Traction in Moab is unreal in most places, so don't walk away thinking you have to build around moab's offerings unless you only wheel Moab.

There's loads to see around there, but some is pretty far away (like canyonlands, needle district) so maybe focus on Arches (I like the back way in if you pre-buy the park pass), Dead Horse, Island in the Sky.

Food wise I’d say Moab Diner, Milts (burger and a shake) and Suzies Roadhouse.

What trails are you thinking?

Im not sure yet, a few of the easier ones for the wife's JK, I'd like to hit some harder trails if I can find another rig going out.

I’d recommend baby lions back, fins n things and hells revenge. Avoid the optional obstacles on hells and it’s an easy scenic trail.

Just booked 3 rooms at the Rustic yesterday for 3/17, 18, 19. Leaving on Monday 20th. Looks like we might just miss you. We'll be coming in from the north so won't even see you on the road.
Wheeling 2 LJRs, 2 JKUR, and an XJ, all from NV. Plan is to hit some easier trails like Hell's Revenge for the scenery. 1st trip for 4 of the 5 going.

Edit: June, not April P.S. Found this thread looking for the one about a June trip some folks have planned. Thinking if weather demolishes the March outing I might make it in June.

Four Corners is not much of a destination. North rim of Grand Canyon will still be snowed in that time of year. South rim is accessible.

But it's something to say you did.

My parent's locked their keys in the car at the closest McDonalds after visiting 4 corners when I was a kid.

Took a guy all of about 10 seconds to open the door for us. Was cool and concerning all at the same time.

Sounds like you have some childhood memories from there. I've driven by the road in many times but stopped there only once. It was decidedly meh. You basically have to pay for the opportunity to buy native american merchandise in one of the least scenic places in the southwest US.

Just not very notable.

If you want to visit one of the most scenic places in the SW US in the same general area, visit Muley Point at the top of the Moqui Dugway. I promise you will not be disappointed.

If possible, try to be there for sunset. Definitely one of the most amazing views anywhere in the US.

There are no facilities there of any kind, not even a pit toilet. However, you can camp there. Nearest town is Mexican Hat with a couple places to stay or eat. Well worth a detour.

Fairly close to Natural Bridges NM which is also worth a visit if you have time.

If you're into hiking, there are some very interesting ruins and rock art around that area as well. And very few people, unlike almost everywhere in CA

I remember seeing the road to Mexican Hat when we went to run the Hole in the rock trail. Wasn't too far from Muley Point.
