Wire identification help needed

I have a RHD export 2002 Sport based TJ, soft top, never had a hard top. The three switch slots in the bottom of the centre section of my dash are blanked off. I am fitting a compressor and using one of the blank spots for a switch and have taken the dash apart for the first time since I have owned the TJ. I was very surprised to see wiring plugged into two of the blanks (as well as the expected wiring to the cigarette lighter...


Are these just redundant parts of the wiring there incase a hard top is fitted (for heated rear screen and rear wiper) or are they there for another reason?

So, as and when I come to put lockers in I can just use those switch slots and leave those connectors unplugged?
