Having a hard time finding a part number for this part of the gas tank.

Just noticed the smell of gas and noticed the damage to the plastic here. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Pretty sure that broken yellow plastic piece is not available separately, comes with the tank itself only. Others may know better.

What year?

Sorry, 2004 4.0.

If it’s apart of the tank I’ll probably find a bandaid fix in the meantime unless I find myself needing a new tank altogether.

Not sure how it broke. Im assuming it happened after installing the body lift.

I broke the same part on my 04 4.0 while removing the tank to replace the fuel pump. I asked the same question about the tank part, but no joy. Ended up replacing the tank for ~$350.

I was afraid you were going to say that..just fyi only 03 and 04 tanks are a direct interchange and are going to cost a fortune.

I have seen repairs attempted but never one that I would recommend

Thanks for the info everyone. I reckon it’s okay in the meantime until I find an oem replacement in good shape. I’m sure it’ll be a pain in the butt to replace given how old the wrangler is getting lol

If you are considering a TEMPORARY repair until you get a new tank you can try an epoxy product such as JB Weld or a fiberglass patch with 2 part epoxy. Not a permanent solution at all, just something that may get you by.

The above was from the 04 parts list and you can see the part number. I also have an 04. A good used fuel tank came up on FBMP a while back and I snagged it knowing these were only two year tanks. Well, that and I'm a parts hoarder as well..... :D

Yeah i figured with these cars getting older that parts hoarding was going to become a thing!

Anyone have experience with any of the extended range gas tanks?
