This stuff is supposed to be conventional. Jerry Bransford talked with Valvoline and they said they make this for NAPA and it's "conventional". But it doesn't say so anywhere on the bottle, or on the NAPA website. I suspect NAPA/Valvoline could quietly switch it to a synthetic blend and nobody would know (or already has).

This NAPA oil certainly has not helped my RMS leak, but that was never a sure thing anyway. I'll go with the Super Tech next time.

I don't believe NAPA carries the conventional High Mileage engine oil any more that Valvoline used to make for them, that jug looks like its likely a synthetic or synthetic blend. I'm now running a Pennzoil High Mileage 10W-30.

Jerry, is that their syn-blend? Or old-stock conventional? Because apparently Pennzoil doesn't make any conventional now.

I think it's weird that the label starts with CONVENTIONAL HIGH MILEAGE then refers to itself as High Mileage Conventional in the first sentence with no word "conventional" in the second column for High Mileage. It almost seems like they don't know what they really are. I'm also trying to figure out exactly why their synthetic does so much 3 times better than real oil.

Whatever the answer may be, the next time I need oil I'll head on down to what seems like the taj mahal of all walmarts. It's almost 20 miles away and no freeway to get there but the whole store and even the aisleways are huge and the trailer park people down there are considerably better than the city people that are bussed into the one near me.

FWIW, I haven't seen any conventional oil in our local walmart (3 miles from my house) in quite some time, long before they moved everything around and started playing crap music WAAAYYYY TOO LOUD. (walmart radio???)

Jerry, sorry, but no. That's a syn-blend, per Pennzoil.
See post #16 on page 1.
Not what I bought. I actually called Pennzoil's tech line and they confirmed it was a pure conventional. Maybe I chose the wrong label for my photo, I just remember it had a lot of red on it.

Well, in that case, please share exactly what/where you bought it, so the rest of us can find it. I'll quit claiming it doesn't exist if I can actually get some. This stuff is getting really tough to find.

Thanks, Jerry.

I bought it at my second-closest Walmart. The one closest to me doesn't carry it.

no that was the one Jerry. we had this discussion on another thread about 6 months ago and you ended up calling Pennzoil and they confirmed the red label was in fact conventional and not a blend. either way I'll keep running it...

Good to have that confirmed, thank you.

Thank you for explaining filter part to me, still does not sit right in my head, but realz always go before the feelz.

As far as conventional Penzoil, it is there, red label high mileage. I see it everywhere, surprised there is confusion about its existance

Previous owner had oil changed at Valvoline just before I bought the car. I changed it last weekend and was very surprised to see the new Fram filter had at least 3x the volume of the Valvoline one. I guess they have a reason for recommending those 3,000 mile oil changes.

You're very suspicious of things. Could you please look into the Classified documents, Hunter laptop and the UFOs that keep getting shot down? I need some real answers. ;)

From what I can tell on the Pennz web page it looks like it could be a syn/blend now too?
The Napa site says conventional but description says it is a blend.
I called valvoline in 21’ to ask about the Napa oil. They said it was a conventional oil. The MSDD has not changed since 2017, so I’m guessing it is the same oil. Guessing Napa has a goof on their site?
