I’ve been leaning towards the UCF high clearance transmission and engine skid plates. I understand I will need a 1.25” body lift with a 1” motor mount lift.

Should I be looking at another manufacturer for the skid plates?

Thank you in advance.

I did theirs and I’m really happy-

Mine is a 2004 Rubicon I didn’t do a complete tuck so I only did the low pro mount - It worked out good- There is a thread I don’t know how to link you - That goes into a pretty good bit of detail with their set up that I used.

I did not do a motor mount lift or a body lift. I was prepared to and may eventually if I go up in tire size but I’m pretty happy overall.

I have the high clearance and motor skid from UCF super easy to install. Get the Savvy shift linkage as well, you won't regret also, swap out the hardware for #4 Phillips.

I have the UCF ultra high clearance with motor mount lift and body lift. I run factory mounts with no problem or vibration. I did the super short sye and transfer case shift cable. It all works. The body lift also allows you to raise the fuel tank easily. If I had to die it again I would opt for aluminum instead of steel.

Follow up. Can you run the UCF engine skid with the Savvy MUA?

I have never done exactly that however........

I have done Savvy engine skid on non Savvy under armor and I have done UCF engine skid on non UCF under armor.
Each time it just required relocating the mounting holes in the under armor. I would think mounting to the Savvy under armor would be pretty straight forward because all the hardware is recessed and flush, where my UCF has carriage bolt heads that protrude.

Thanks, I assume I’d just mock it up, drill mounting holes in the Savvy skid. I don’t know how the UCF engine skid drills out their holes, but if they’re not recessed I could do that. Probably need some kind of steel support piece where the two skids attach. 🤷‍♂️

Yep that's what I did.

I don't think you will need any additional support at that point. Where the two skids overlap you will be twice as strong. I would counter sink any bolts facing down. I used a piece of 1/8" strap and welded two nuts to it. That way I did not have use a wrench on the top of the skid to hold the nuts as I tightened it all up.

The strap is a good idea. It is annoying to have to reach up into the skid and hold the nut. I have the same issue on the Savvy crossmember, and two of them are right under the TCase, so it’s very tight quarters. I’ve thought about flag nuts there. Thanks for suggestions. I should have bought the Savvy engine skid a year or two ago, but my oil pan is bent to hell from several years ago and it’s never been touched since because it’s so far out of the way. I’m considering replacing it now, which is the reason for the skid interest.

Used those UCF skids on three of my prior rigs. Owned both the aluminum and steel versions. No issues at all with fitment or strength. Just ordered a extra clearance steel tcase skid for my LJ Rubicon project.
