Savvy off-road sold? (the unofficial Savvy customer support and Savvy rant thread)

Heard back from them yet?

No, and I just checked my spam folder too. The website says they will respond to emails that are relevant (or something like that).

You'd hope that question is relevant, but if it is deemed not to be I guess that is an answer in itself 🤷‍♂️

Who wants some aluminum?

Ball Corporation. They can make plenty more beer cans out of those rolls.

I ordered the LJ corner armor blanks last night (by the way, shipping was a whopping $381.31!). Within an hour, the money was refunded, with this explanation:

Drats! This and the tub rails was the last bit of Savvy goodness I needed...

We're in the same place. Corners and rub rails are all I need to complete my build goal. For me the questions are: Will aluminum go down in cost again? And, how far does it have to go before they will place another order? :cautious:

I suspect you're much farther along than I. Right now, I have a big pile of expensive parts and other projects distractions preventing actual progress. 😞

Aluminum futures peaked at $3500 per ton a year ago and are down to $2500 per ton currently, so it's already trending in the right direction. From 2010 to 2020, they were up and down, averaging about $2000 per ton. Futures dropping doesn't always reflect directly at the end of the supply change because the market price is affected by so many things between mining and consumer use, so it's hard to say for sure, but I suspect it'll come down eventually.

As to how far the market price needs to drop for Savvy to start building corners again? I won't touch that one with the proverbial barge pole!

No I'm not, at least with the LJ. It is relatively stock, but has a very expensive pile of parts sitting next to it.

The TJ on the other hand is done, for now. All that's left for it is to build a 30 spline HP30, to replace the existing LP. ;)

I sent them another email explaining the forum interest. We’ll see. Here’s the page you see after sending message.

For me Savvy parts have always been a non-starter, due to the quoted shipping rates (I understand why as a small player they are high, but it has still made them a non starter for me). I am hoping that being part of a bigger business the shipping to the UK may come down to a level where it would be justifiable. So for me the fact Savvy were bought was potentially a positive. But that can only work if they are still in the TJ parts business.

I have to wonder why they purchased the company. You might want contracts, patents, customer list, branding. But if you are going to rebrand - well then branding can not be it - and I doubt the customer list was reliant.

I have most of the parts I wanted, at least up to this level of my build. I really don't know if I will every move on to the next level. Have been waiting a year for the skids to come back into stock. Did not seem they had much motivation to get those made. Can only assume they needed to be made in batches to make them profitable and they did not think there was a demand for a batch.

Guess I will consider trying to snag some tail lights (was looking at those earlier today before I saw this thread) - out of old times sake... But I don't really need to Z.

Looked at new site - nothing I am interested in. Old site now is out of stock of the tail lights as well. RIP Savvy.

He should read the info on the Z page that says Savvy was acquired and is rebranding. Maybe clear the air if that is not the case.

His marketing team heard that there was large bonuses if they moved all the existing TJ/LJ stock

Why does the savvy off-road Facebook page have the Z website listed? Too many questions, zero answers, leaves me skeptical.
