So we bought a Jeep—2006 LJR

Oh shit so you were the one that saved the day!? I was up there with him. Dam dude tilt deck aluminum that is dope.

Yeah, they managed to find service somewhere out there and gave me a call... luckily I was at home and available, almost went to Walker that morning.

And yeah, loving my new trailer so far :) 10k trailer that weights 1820lbs curb weight, so almost 8200lbs of capacity (old one was a 7k that weighed 2k)... and no more messing with ramps.

His back brakes shit the bed in some way not sure exactly

So what I got was he was in 4Low, had his e-brake on and forgot to release it before driving, then managed to over-drive (his words) the brake which totally destroyed it. He is searching for a new backing plate for his AMC20 rear end (not finding one so far) now since it was literally bent and split open. He was able to limp down to the trail head but his brake pedal was to the floor with very little braking power left.

I've got some disc brake brackets for a AMC 20. I'd bought them for the ex's CJ and never got them installed. Kind of like the f.i. setup I have too.

He's trying to avoid the extra expense but as of this morning he is considering a disk brake conversion :/

WOW that is crazy.

If he wants an extra set of brackets I'll be happy to give him mine.

And food for future mods.... I've got a 4.0 head and the PCM and all the other parts to turn a 4.2 into a MPFI. Again I'd bought for the ex's CJ and never got a chance to mod her CJ. Paid $250 for all of it. Might even be able to find the websites that talked about how to do it again.

educate me, what is MPFI?

Health issues and other issues have side tracked any work on the Jeep for a while... but I am making progress on my welding after starting some night classes for it.

2 months ago I'd never stick welded, last night I did this in class with 6010 stick. Not perfect of course but I'm happy with it. Combination of horizontal and vertical up welding. Taking MIG class next which will be half steel half aluminum welding and from there TIG.

Where do you take those classes? I just picked up a welder this week and have just been running beads, messing around with the settings in my garage. Just MIG flux core so far as I didn’t buy a gas tank yet. But I’ve always been interested in taking a class.

The local Technical College in my area has welding classes.

I'm taking them at Everett Community College... they have a full welding and fabrication course list up to an associates program if wanted. The local Tech colleges also have welding courses but they didn't have night classes for us working stiffs.

I'm just taking one class at a time and auditing them so I don't have to worry about grades :) run Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs (2 nights a week) 7pm-11pm. Basically spend 3-4 hours each night welding where they supply instruction and feedback, and the materials/equipment etc. runs about $750 for a 12 week course (including the materials fee).

Wow $750 for 12 week program is a helluva deal
