Stretched TJK (bigger rubber & extra inches)

Also, another sendcutsend.com plug. Some $10/ea. crowfeet wrenches for links and jamb nuts cut from 1/2" AR500.

Curious how the AR500 does as a wrench material, does it resist bending way better than mild? Definitely on my cut list for my first SCS order.

Just a suggestion if you ever make more in the future, rotate the 1/2" drive socket about 5°. Just in case you cant fit the breaker bar in the spot you need, you can flip the socket over and it should fit.

I've been cranking on them with a 2' cheater bar. No distortion.

Adding to the frame and getting rid of the "Butt-Crack" was a lot more work than anticipated. But, the frame is back together. I'll add a fishplate to the side of the frame for added strength but I want to do so after building the removable 4-link cross-member. I'll need to weld the top of the frame, too but I think I'll do so when I french-in the rear towers. I figure I'll remove all body mounts and jack up the rear of the tub to weld the back side of the rear towers and also give me a bit more room to weld the joint at the top of the frame.

Looks great. And yes it's a lot of work but the results are worth it.

Don't forget to get a spacer for your tank mount.

Started playing around with rear towers. found the "Sweet spot" for them so cut the frame and they're "frenched in". With JK axle's and wheels with 4.5" of backspacing, top of 3" wide 2.0 coilover will rub.

How the hell are guys fitting coilovers in the rear of TJ width axles?

Is that at ride height? Have you checked your clearance at full articulation? Hard to tell from the pic.

As to running coilovers on TJ width axles? I don’t think I’ve seen anyone do that.

Not speaking from personal experience but if you look at Blaine's builds, he cuts entirely through the rear frame and adds a new section of frame on the inboard side to fit the poly tower through. IIRC the back face of the tower is 1" past the frame. You'll have to hunt for the pics, I don't remember which thread he posted them in.

PS those Fox 1.0's look a little stiff

Mine rubbed like crazy with 4.25 inches of backspacing and 2.0 coilovers. I added 1.75 inch spacers which I know is far from ideal. I did my best to leave some frame but French my poly towers as far into the frame as possible. End plan is to build some nine inches and it’ll work way better.

This is what I would do if I could redo it all again. I’m not too worried since I’ll go to wide axles in the next couple of years. I will never recommend coilovers to anyone not stretching or for someone keeping stock axles unless they just want a heinous amount of work and like to spend money.
