Hey all,
I have an 01 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 Auto and about a week ago it wouldn't start, so I checked the codes and got that it was the Crank Position Sensor, so I replaced that. I also found a small hole in my air intake pipe so I replaced it. Unfortunately it is still cranking without starting. It is getting fuel, it seems to be getting air and spark because it sounds like it fires up for about half a second, but doesn't really start. Sorry if any of that doesn't make sense or if anything needs clarification, I'm happy to clarify anything. I can even send pictures or if it would help I might be able to attach a video of what I'm hearing when I try to start it. (I'm new here so I don't know if it allows videos)

Starting fluid. Gum cutter will work as well.

Spray a small amount if that into the TB.

Try to start. Does it run for a few seconds?

If yes...then you've a fuel delivery problem.

If not....You've an ignition issue.

Good luck.
So I tried the starter fluid and it sounds like it fires for a second, just the same as without, then dies. It seems like fuel is getting to the engine, but I'm not sure how to check.

I don't have a gauge to check it, but I depressed the nozzle and fuel sprayed out. I'll get a gauge to check it for sure tomorrow, though.

Yes, it would be good to know for sure so you can at least rule it out. Fuel can still spray out even if the pressure is low.

Also, re scan for codes. It sounds like you are having the same issue you had before you replaced the sensor. Maybe it’s a bad sensor? We recommend OEM sensors for the best results.

I thought I'd update y'all, it did turn out to be the crank position sensor that was faulty. Thanks for all of you help!

I know this thread is basically dead, but what brand of sensor did you buy that was faulty, and which one fixed the issue?
