I ordered https://www.extremeterrain.com/morryde-tailgate-reinforcement-kit-9706.html because the trunk is used daily and my daughter messing with a swing arm and a tailgate with all her sports equipment/bags seems like a receipe for disaster.

The LJR is going to be painted in May...should I mount it all now - and have it painted like the factory? Leaning towards not and having the parts painted individually that way it is painted under on the tub better and sealed from rust better.

Thanks for the advice.

That reinforcement kit is powder coated with a slight textured black coating. I sanded (scuffed) it all down, painted it to match my white TJ, and then mounted it. I would do the same if I were to do it again.

I want to do the same - might as well since the tub & tailgate is being painted. Rather it all match...
