Rear frame side control arm mount reinforcement

I'm afraid if I keep bending these and straitening them back out they are eventually going to break or crack. I'm sure some of you out there have found ways to beef these up or add some protection. Looking for suggestions.

I was thinking of shortening the ears a little.
Less to hit and less leverage when hit.

Wouldn't your control arm nut be better protected next to the tire?
 
I have the same issue. I was thinking of straightening mine out, then using cardboard to make a template for each side, once dialed in I'll use some 3/16" plate then weld the plates to the mount to make it thicker.

Straighten them out and trim off what isn't needed outside the joint housing
