Are Cherokee parts interchangeable with Wranglers?

Hi all! Bought my first Jeep last yr, a 99 Wrangler SE. I was wondering if parts from a 99 Cherokee sport would be interchangeable. My dad finally retired his 99 Cherokee sport last yr and my TJ needs a few things like the AC and a few other things. Is this possible? The Cherokee is just sitting there rusting away.

Possibly but the 2.5 is underpowered as is, I really dont think it needs AC, I completely understand the want for it, I wish my 2.5 has AC from time to time I dont think its worth the power loss.

The front axle is an HP30 I believe but I might need someone more knowledgeable to verify, its interchangeable and stronger.

p.s. For AC specifically, this thread might help.

3.55 is most common. In tj's it was 97 only. For her 2.5l no cherokee ratios are desirable. The heater core might exchange, the seat foam, steering wheel possibly?

Interesting, you learn something new everyday. I always assumed it used the standard 3.07 or 3.73

Since I don't see it here yet,... Welcome to the Forum!!!

This forum is absolutely the best resource for TJ info on the planet. Be for-warned about the sense of humor here though...it can bet pretty rough!! Fabulous group of folks though. Be sure to be aware that the Factory Service Manuals are available here electronically for free.: https://wranglertjforum.com/forums/tj-resources.121 Also check out this for assistance with most TJ projects: https://wranglertjforum.com/forums/tj-how-to-guides.109/

Living in the middle of NC I almost roasted in it last yr during the summer even with the top off and wind in my hair.

Unless you have a parts 4 cyl tj with ac to rob you are maybe better off with some kind of aftermarket kit? The whole dash would need to come off and the hvac box too.

I know it's a bit of a drive, but there is a gal in Greenville SC who parts out TJs regularly. I listed her info here. May be good to ask her to let you know if she gets one with AC that would work for you.
