Hello again everyone!

I have been off this forum for quite some time. Reason being I sold my TJ and thought I'd not be back.......well I guess I'm back! I found a 2004 TJ "X", 165K on the odometer, rack, soft top, weird 32's, automatic, 4.0, 3.73 gears, dana 35 and 30 axles. El cancer is just starting. Motor runs good, 4x4 works, lights work, leaks in ALL the places. Got it for a price I couldn't pass on - and I got the go ahead from my better half! $4500.00

I've already been hearing the cash register dinging away!....Been reading here again for a few days. Seems like nothing has gotten any simpler to figure out...LOL. It rides like crap, suspension is original - yes shocks too. I'll most likely do the "budget" 2-2.5" lift discussed here to try and make it safer on the road. Thinking OME HD 2.5 springs, Rancho 5000X, replacement factory control arms, track bar relocation bracket, and the transfer case drop if needed to get me going. Have to drive it and see. Gives me "options" down the road for changes - even though the trans drop is "going backwards".... Have to address some of the leaking at some point, and a new top as this one is pretty crispy. Then there's el cancer.....it never does end with these things...SMH...

Thanks @AndyG !!

It's been said here before, once you get a TJ in your blood you can't shake it. Something about that rock and roll ride!!

I started some basics today. Started trying to clean it. Gonna take a bit, the interior is a bit funky. Noticed it has been outside a bunch with no top on I would guess. Rust under the seats and in the mechanisms. Gonna have to pull the seats and do some maintenance.

Then I wanted to try and fix my heater / blower. It had the common issue of only blowing from the defrost. Thanks to this forum I found it was a vacuum leak. I did a bubba style repair with some shrink wrap and electrical tape. When I tested the function it worked great....and I got a face full of dirt!!! Should have seen that coming.....

Anyway the adventure begins. Should be a good one.

Welcome back.

After seeing your username, I read your entire post twice to see if you sneaked in a 3:16 somewhere. Maybe next time you will 🙂
