JB NP231 rebuild kit seal direction

It seems obvious at first to me but I've made those mistakes before 😆

What direction should this seal go in? It's a double lip seal and looks little like the original so I want to be sure.

Second from the bottom pic or bottom pic?

Thanks man! Seemed like the obvious choice but springs on both sides had me double guessing.

I understand. Sorry for the momentary confusion. Until I blew your picture up I thought the second “front side” spring was light highlighting the seal ledge…
 
Odd seal to have springs on both sides. The side meant to be pressed from is going to have a larger metal/flat surface area if nothing else?

This is the correct orientation…

Mine came with only the “inside spring” showing…

In the grand scheme it probably does not matter since it is a double seal but this is how I install them. I am just glad they went away from the two thin seals that you had to install opposing each other as they were a pain not to gink one of them.

I agree. I had a slow drip from the old thin seal setup…
