Why have both? Are you saying you don't own and carry a cell phone?

i wear a mechanical watch everyday with an apple watch and always have my phone on me. one overlapping function for all three items that serve their own purposes otherwise

I had to look up that brand, damn.

i was a sort of watch broker in a prior life.. flipped that one after getting to care for it for about 2 years.

one of the nicest watches i've ever owned but not practical for my current suit-free and business travel free life :ROFLMAO:

I currently have a cel phone - my wife finally got frustrated enough that she bought me one.
Now the question is do I use it?
I plug it into the car and listen to music (that I copied from albums and CDs) while I drive. The wife texts me now ant then. No e-mail, apps, etc.

So if I don't carry it, I don't miss it.

Let me leave my watch at home and I feel naked all day.

My Ukrainian buddy here in VA owns a watch repair shop. He works on super expensive Rolex type watches. He showed me one that had rust inside and was all disassembled that he later repaired. I could show him your picture and see if it's something he'd mess with. Not sure if you'd want to mail something like that off though.

I would be open to mailing it to someone with knowledge and skill to get it working again. Years ago when I looked locally I didn't find any places that repaired watches or clocks.

Well, I can vouch he's a solid guy and has a good rep. If you want me to show him some pics, let me know đź‘Ť

1968 Rolex GMT Master. Purchased while on R&R from Vietnam at the Hong Kong Post Naval Exchange for $94.00 US. I don't wear it much anymore, it still keeps excellemt time, just easier to use my phone now. It's not for sale, although it would be one helluva ROI.

No frigging way

@Zorba any chance you have a long lost sibling?

Well, I was actually a twin, but the twin died in utero - or so I was told. Maybe not! ;)

I haven't worn a watch in decades, I really don't like tight things on my wrists. Somewhere around here I have a beautiful Citizen "NaviHawk" that I never could keep on my wrist as its weight would tear off the little spring do-dads that hold the band on. Carried a pocket watch in High School, and would probably return to that if I felt the need to have a watch. As it is, I'm surrounded by clocks everywhere, so don't really need a watch. But they can be a marvel of engineering!

You wore a pocket watch in HS, did you carry a briefcase too? lol
Seriously, fine mechanical or automatic watches are more about owning a marvelous, precise little machine made by hand (by most) on your wrist and appreciating it for its complications, style and heritage. Keeping the time is only a secondary advantage to a watch guy?
