What did you do to your TJ today?

Tore down & lubed JJs on Savvy Arms and Trackbars. They are brand new and clearly needed lubed before going in.

Gotta use plenty of anti-sieze here in the rust belt.

Level of lube from the factory. About the same across all the JJs.

Glad you posted this. I have brand new lower RockJock arms I need to install. Was debating about prelubing them or just installing as is. What method did you use to service the JJs? I’m hesitant to pull the trigger on the JJ tools based on cost but may have to just suck it up

pre-lube fo sho. i made up my own tools from some recommendations from here but misplaced them in one of my moves.

ended up getting the jj tools and don't regret it one bit. 20 jj's takes a while.. can't wait to get rid of 4 of em soon :ROFLMAO:

From the looks of your gear shift lever, your wife pissed you off. o_O

No, traded the wife in on a Jeep. Actually the PO put a couple of funky bends in the shift lever to accommodate the transfer case drop he had installed. Now that I have somewhat of a tuck I have undone some of the bends but still needs more straightening. At least it no longer hits the console in 1/3/5.

Go with the tools. You won't be disappointed. I picked them up and they made the job a breeze. Still took about 3.5 hours but that was split between the JJ greasing and anti-seizing the threads & reassembly.

I used up about half a container of this:

Red Line CV-2 Synthetic High-Performance Extreme Pressure Grease with Red Moly, 14 Ounce Jar https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0053O9FQS/?tag=wranglerorg-20

I never had to bend mine at all on my (2) 6 speeds. Strange.

I got a JB SSSYE and a new Tom Woods double cardan driveshaft waiting to go in as well. Kinda wish I had time to take the transfer case off to do it. This is my daily driver tho. I gotta sneak these parts on as fast as possible whenever I get the chance.

Sorry if this has been said already, I am catching up on a lot of reading after being gone for a bit. 2 things, 1. if you did not already, I HIGHLY suggest you put some red or blue locktight under the adjustment nuts for the Savy cable shifter. I got up into the mountains and couldn't use 4 low because the nuts had backed off and let everything slide around. 2, you don't need to pull the transfer case to install the JB SSSYE. I did it this weekend and left it in the Jeep. If you can put the rear axle up on stands or on ramps to where you can just sit up under the Jeep, it is actually a bit easier to do the install underneath. That way you don't need someone else to hold things down while you torque the yoke nuts.

I’m assuming you guys had to grab both the 2” tool and 2.5” one as well?

Got some preparatory work done on some tube doors for the tj. Not completely done, still need some cross-pieces in the middle to make it stronger, but bought the metal pipe and plan to start actually making them this week!

Figuring out how angles on circular pieces of pipe work were just about the most confusing thing I’ve tried to understand, but I eventually got it… after wasting half the pipe that I bought…

Drove BB to work with no windows today!!!!!

Supposed to cool back off this week, just means I will have to wear a coat :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

This is exactly what I do…..haha I would rather run topless and put a coat on than put the windows back on
