Most folks send me a pan from Amazon. I braze the bung in and send it back to an address they give me. It runs about 30 bucks to supply and braze the bung in plus shipping.
Is there a preferred gauge? Or any quality auto meter works ?
I tried to weld in a bung into the stock pan and it ended up leaking. I’m an amateur welder and welding a relatively small and thick bung into the thin metal is not the easiest thing to do while also avoiding blowing holes in the thin metal. After a failed second attempt and losing my work space in the middle of it all(long story) I did what is suggested above and had the Dorman pan sent directly to mrblaine. A week and a small payment later and I had a new pan with a non-leaking bung. I will say I am getting pretty damn fast at the simple task of removing and installing a transmission pan, which is something I didn’t really want to get good at.

@mrblaine Do you perform this service for the 32RH as well?
Yes, but only the bung install. 32 pans are too hard to come by to keep any here.
Any transmission temperature gauge you like including Autometer will be fine.Is there a preferred gauge? Or any quality auto meter works ?
Sorry about the week turnaround time, that's just shipping. We always do them the same day and in fact have a couple here already done in case I have something else going on that stops me from getting right to it.
Thinking about it, it wasn’t a week. In fact, I think you shipped the pan before Amazon delivered one to you on my behalf. Pretty damn amazing service.
Not necessarily preferred but I'm fond of the Jeep branded Autometer.
I’ve had Auto Meter 880260 in my Amazon cart for at least a year. I’ve known that you would do the bung install but it seems like just sending you a pan is missing a few steps in any normal service process.
If you know what to do when a 42RLE Dorman pan shows up, I think I just send you a pan from Amazon and maybe an email with a heads up.
I know what to do when a pan shows up accompanied by a heads up. I don't know what to do if it just shows up except to toss it in a corner and wait until someone tells me why it is here.
