What band never fails to make you listen?

Ratatat
Eminem
Tool
Pink Floyd
Brand New
Why?
Creedence
Gunship
The National
Gang Starr / DJ Premier
Chromeo
Biggie
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Minus the Bear
Chillhop/Lofi/etc.

I listen to almost everything, but these are my most played on Spotify.

AIC man. 90s grunge is great but whew Lane Staley”s voice…dude could get you in the feels. Trent Reznor is another great voice from that time.

I'll never forget listening to a local rock station (KISW in Seattle) report that Lane Staley was doing a side-project where he was going to be the front-man for Rage Against The Machine, with an album expected, as well as some concerts. The band was to be called "Alice, Enraged". I thought this was great, and looked forward to hearing more about it. Then I realized...it was April 1st, and this was nothing more than an April Fool's joke.

Four days later, on April 5th, the news reports came in that Staley was found dead at his home, of an aparent drug overdose. :(

But I'll listen to most anything on the harder side, heavy blues influence rock, or anything good. I just don't find much good in country or rap.

Lots of individual songs.

I set my Pandora to "Tool Radio", "Disturbed Radio", or "Metallica Radio" and normally get songs I like.

I do cardio workout (run, eliptical, bike) to Coldplay because their beat is faster than rock and it sets a harder pace. I got free tickets to one of their shows and needed to listen to their albums. Puts me to sleep on long plane rides too.

I saw Kid Rock live and he's talented. He played every instrument on stage at some point.

His Purple Rain album is one of my all-time favorites, not just of his music, but of music, in general.

Not my style is a good way to put it. The local 70s and 80s station overplays the ever loving hell out of Raspberry Beret to the point that I change the station the second it starts, and my reaction bleeds into some of his other songs as well. I haven't been exposed to much of his stuff beyond the popular singles that still get airplay like Purple Rain and 1999.

I saw the Metallica & Kid Rock show in Highschool when they toured together, and for all the Napster corp sellout flak Metallica got, S&M was pretty damm cool.

Never was a Michael Jackson fan.
I have listened to ABBA.

The Mommas and the Pappas
The Greatful Dead
Crosby, Stills and Nash ...... with out Neil Young
Yard Birds
Eric Clapton
Jimmie Hendrix
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Fleetwood Mac
Tom Petty
All good picks. Made me think of a couple of stories...

I never go to large venue concerts. Just not my thing. Stevie Ray Vaughn did an impromptu thing at a tiny bar in Houston when I happened to be there ('89 maybe?). I guess he was a friend of the owner. I was about 8 feet away. One of the highlights of my 10 years in that town.

I also met Neil Young (I know, I know... not a favorite among southern men) and his former wife on a trip to Antarctica I took with my Mom 7 or 8 years ago (another story in and of itself). He was a little stand off-ish/grumpy. I think he was writing a book at the time. His wife seemed real pleasant. My wife, who didn't go because she gets sea-sick (and the Drake Passage is wild), was so jealous. She's a huge Neil Young fan even though she has some roots in Summerville.

He was masterful with the guitar. There's maybe one weak song on the album, but I can tolerate it. My wife is appalled by his music, but she has a really narrow band of music that she qualifies as good.

Clutch
Disturbed
Rammstein
Maiden
Chris Stapleton and/or Steeldrivers
Johnny Cash
Larkin Poe (best live show I've ever seen)

I've seen Tool 3 times now, probably will see them a fourth if they tour this fall (allegedly happening). I've seen Disturbed once, I should probably go see Metallica.

Pink Floyd, Bob Seger, Phil Collins, Billy Joel

BOOM ^^^

Genesis
John Denver.. can't help but to sing along
Steve Winwood and Traffic
Eagles
Duran Duran
Tears for Fears
Sting & The Police

Met Billy Joel a few years ago. No, it was a lot of years ago. I was at the tail end of three week boat trip around Montauk, Block Island, Martha's Vineyard and was on the hook in Coecles Marina in Shelter Island, where Billy Joel keeps the Alexa. Beautiful boat. It was going to be a wicked storm the coming night and I went to the dock master to see if I could grab a slip for the night. Walk into the dock masters office and shit.. There's Billy Joel making arrangements to ready the Alexa for a fishing trip that afternoon. Ask the dock master if there any open slips. He says no. Billy says... "I'll be leaving early afternoon... use mine." No joke. I used his slip for the night. I walk out of the dock master and past a big black Benz and realize... shit.. that's Christie Brinkley in the passenger seat. I immediately wet myself. True story.

i saw tool once and can never see them again since it was the best show i've ever seen in my life.. don't want to ruin that memory

I grew up in the 60' and 70's, so it was all about Rock & Roll. And also heavy into the Blues, Soul, Jazz, old school Rap and Hip Hop.
But if there was one, it would be Steely Dan. I've been a Dan Fan since day 2.
My Wife and I have been known to travel hundreds of miles to see BB King, Bonnie Raitt, Steely Dan, Santana, The Eagles, Dr. John....
