A lesson learned—keep it light and nimble!

Not a Jeep thing, but with 66 degree weather I tested out my new mower. This thing is fast and awesome! :)

A year and a 1/2 after I ordered it, the 30 spline Dana 30 Eaton E locker finally showed up. If all goes well I should be able to build the HP 30 sometime in April.

Better late than NEVER..... I've still got some parts I've ordered and don't have.

Looking forward to watching the build of your HP30. Always like seeing your work.

Looking forward to the hpd30 work too. I plan on putting the 30 spline arb in one for my lj soon.

What plans do you have for 30?
- Iron Rock lower mounts
- currie housing joints
- BMB tie rod flip and sway bar mounts?

Those are on my shortlist when I run through my hpd30.

Yeah I also plan on doing this to my hp30 in the next few years hopefully. Definitely interested to see you walk through it

Exactly. All those parts are sitting here waiting for me to get started, along with a Yukon small hub set. I just need to get a new set of Yukon rotors and wheel studs. I'm putting in a lightly used Yukon hub kit and the rotors are a little rusty and have a few dimples on the braking surface area.

Went to pick up some free, garage clean out, parts this weekend. Much to my surprise, one of the fender flare sets he had told me about turned out to be Rubicon flares. While not perfect, they were in very good condition. I told him what they were and offered him money, but when he saw my Jeep he said take and install them. I did what he asked!

Starting to plan out the 30 spline high pinion Dana 30 build. Learning a lesson from the past, I pulled all the locker parts, inspected and checked everything for proper fitment, and verified all the parts needed are here. In some cases you can teach an old dog new tricks!

It really is surprising just how much smaller a Dana 30 ring and pinion are compared to the Dana 44. If you look at it purely from this perspective, it's easy to see why people don't want to spend money on building one.

That's a great picture. I had never seen them side by side like that.

It works in other fields too — 30 vs 44:

I thought the same thing when I saw the revolutions that came in for my setup. It looks like I'm doing similar but with arb's.

Looking forward to following along with the axle build!

dang, that’s quite a big difference. Is the dana 44 R&P for the rear?

Wondering if maybe the rear TJ44 gears are just larger than the front TJ44 gears, sortof how it is with the JK.
