My brother had a harbor freight one mounted to the abs tray until very recently, I don't think he ever had any problems with it there.

I run my Viair 400 in the same spot and it's survived the last two years. The only problem I have is in the summer months. After a day on the trail, the compressor is already hot when it's time to air up. When I get to the tire #3, that thing is burning hot. I've already sent it into Viair once to have the seals replaced. We shall see how things go this summer.

I recently purchased the 88 and was looking at doing the same. But because the hose can't be removed from the unit I wasn't sure how that would store. If you end up doing it, post up some pictures and let us know how it works.

I put mine there once. It rattled like crazy, so if you mount it there make sure and put some kind of rubber mat under it. As someone mentioned, that wee little compressor gets HOT there. For that reason, and portability, I didn't mount my 400P there.

I ran a 480C there for a couple years. Wheeled Moab in July with it. Never had any issues.

Replaced with ARB dual for more speed.

I’m going to figure out a way to possibly hang it from the brake booster. A long hose clamp and some kind of hook bracket maybe.

I got it mounted pretty solid and the power cord run over to the battery. Gotta clean up and paint the bracket and figure out a mount for the hose.
One pic shows where I used the tcm bracket hole and drilled a new hole adjacent to it and opened up the lower/ rear hole for a nut and bolt, gonna use a thingy to hold the loom under the bracket
