Savvy off-road sold? (the unofficial Savvy customer support and Savvy rant thread)

I’ll start. I ordered my engine skid 2 months ago, still haven’t received it. That’s fine, I knew that going in.

But why do you have 4 engine skids in stock, if you can’t ship backorders?

Pretty lame.

I had a similar situation happen a while back. I reached out to them after patiently waiting for months once I saw them in stock. I didn't get an email/phone reply, but the parts arrived two days later.

I think the narrative in the past has been, great products (designed by Blaine), sold by a nice guy running a company that is really a hobby as much as a business. So the customer experience is not as slick as people have become used to with many internet businesses, but their heart is in the right place and the products make the pain worth it.

To return to the early part of this thread there is something going on here that may call that somewhat into question. There remains on the Savvy Designz website the statement that the Offroad Group has acquired Savvy Offroad. Yet some time ago the (previous?) owner of Savvy Offroad has emailed Gollywomper to say that was just his marketting people getting excited and it is just a new division that has been set up by the existing business and that Savvy Offroad has not been sold. Having seen that email posted here I fully expected to see the statement on the Savvy Designz website removed or amended, but it remains completely unchanged. The bottom line is either that statement, or the email are not completely truthful.

There is also the circumstantial evidence of the new and significantly better website operated by Savvy Designz and the ("barely a...") website operated by Savvy Offroad. If Savvy Designz is just a division of Savvy Offroad, why would the person responsible for the website not at least put a bit of time into the Savvy Offroad one?

Puts on tin helmet and ducks...

Email him at gman@ I did and mine is arriving today. Yes we shouldn't have to email to get things to ship but here we are.

both states I've lived in used to have a "use tax" that you were supposed to pay on your tax return on any goods you bought from out of state and brought in. It was self reported, on the honor system, with no way to enforce it. Honest guy that I am, I would actually download my Amazon annual order report in a spreadsheet and pay the tax I owed for the transactions where it wasn't charged, but I didn't keep organized records for every internet vendor I bought from. So they just changed their laws and pushed the retailers to collect the tax for them.

In CA, as a business, we pay a use tax.

Technically if you send me $20 via venmo and I have already hit the maximum amount the government says I can collect before paying taxes I am to report that. I am to keep records throughout the year and include when I file my taxes. Sound right? I just want to go on record and say I totally do this

The .gov has totally screwed that up. We have 3 PayPal accounts. 1 personal for each and a business account that is also the card processor and payment gateway. The new rules have made it so I can not get reimbursed or accept funds for any reason in my personal account without them taking out fees because I have a business account.

I used to help out my friends by ordering something for them that I get a discount on and then letting them just reimburse me. Now, they have to add 3.5% or I lose money. We figured out a way around it but it is so convoluted and time consuming that it isn't worth it.

1. IRS has delayed 1099 reporting until 2024. https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-an...or-third-party-payment-platforms-forms-1099-k

2. The third party services (PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, etc) are required to report payments for goods and services to the IRS and provide you a form so you can report that as well when you file. https://www.irs.gov/businesses/understanding-your-form-1099-k

Emailed 3 times over the course of 2 months with no response :(

Interestingly enough, I had some conversations with Gerald before this, and I always received very fast responses.

But then you bought an LJ and everyone know Gerald hates those "long jeeps"

That sucks. I had to email a few times for this one with a copy of my order. He said he was in Moab all of last week.

I'm done with my savvy parts needs for a while. I don't see bumpers or corner armor coming in stock anytime soon. I
