Here is the new to me after 13 years project. It’s always been a drive around on the weekend to the kids games and practices Jeep. Now they’re older and too busy for us. Lol. We decided to start a forever project. Many plans for Johnny Cash. We named it Johnny Cash because the wife loves Johnny Cash. Also because what we have planned for this Jeep is costing a ton of cash! Hey we need new hobbies! Can’t wait

Too funny, I bought a black 98 TJ in February 2022. My 30-something kids named it Cash because Johnny Cash was the man in black and they figured I would spend a bunch of cash. A year later it’s still black and I’ve put a bunch in it. Welcome to the forum-its helped me a bunch. TJBUD

Thanks! How’s your project coming along.

Lots of fun, lots of work(Cash)-so far:
Rebuilt 4.0 into 4.7 stroker
Had ax15 rebuilt, replaced clutch
rebuilt np231
5 new driveshaft ujoints
rebuilt brakes
rebuilt suspensions, lifted 4” (was 3”) with new springs, control arms (front adjustable), axle ujoints, hubs, zj tie rod, pitman arm, drag link
RS5000x shocks, Rancho steering dampner
welded front winch mount for frame mounting winch with new bumper.

as you can see, it still needs new paint which I‘m trying to tackle this summer.

What are your plans?

Cash looking great! My next step is the wheels and 35s. Then regear. Then probably going to upgrade suspension to Currie or Savvy. Not sure if I’m going short arm like I have or mid arm. I have a bunch of little things to add right now. Cosmetic stuff. Motobilt stubby. Trucklite headlights. Warn winch. Have factory half doors I got lucky finding no rust. After summer is when we’re doing the suspension upgrade.

Stroker?!! Do tell.

Johnny Cash sat on the steps of Sun Studios waiting for Sam Phillips to show up.

“Mr. Phillips, my name is Johnny Cash. If you will listen to me sing I believe you will be glad you did.”

Rest is history.

Ya gotta ring your own bell.
