Proper wheels for 35s

I hear ya! I did end up with MR701s on my TJ. 17x8.5 5x5.5, but with 4.75 BS. Still trying to see if I am going to need to put 1" wheel spacers on...

What’s the “4.75 BS”? The backspacing?

Backspacing is a different measurement than offset. -4 isn't a backspacing measurement.

Sorry, misplaced negative sign. I meant 4 backspacing, which I understand is what I need to find. Is 4.75 or 4.76 a big-enough difference to matter?

0.01" is 1/100". There might be some rubbing.

Similar question: Does Pro Comp make decent offroad wheels?

I’ve got my eye on these “vintage” 17” rims (and no, I’m not wild about the wheels on my first Jeep now being called vintage):

Pro Comp Series 69 wheels work quite well off road. They used to run about $100 each, so didn't break the bank if a replacement was needed. However, like everything else, prices have increased substantially in the past two years.

Procomp Series 69 wheels, 16x8 w 4" backspacing and 5x5.5 lug pattern, and Mickey Thompson 315/75R16 ("metric 35") tires:

Pro comp makes decent wheels. Most popular mfg are decent.

The best non-beadlocks I have run were the Mickey Thompson Classic 2. I ran those with 35's for 5+ years and they held up very well through lots of abuse. They were also very good at holding the bead.

I had those on my Jeep a couple sets of wheels back... I liked them too. Mine were black, coating seemed quality on them, at least at the time.

Im running the 69 series but 15x10 with 3.625 back spacing but got them not knowing the back spacing difference from an 8 wide vs a 10. Besides the bad scrub radius they do everything they need.

Not to sidetrack here, but does rim width matter for backspacing? I thought backspacing was always measured from the wheel mounting surface to the back lip of the rim, so width doesn't have any effect on backspace measurements. Offset is another story.

Also, in talking to the company that I purchased my wheels and tires from, they made it sound like some manufacturers don't exactly nail the specs. He said some of them measure to the inside lip of the rim and some to the outside. As far as I am concerned, I have not measured many wheels, but I am curious if there is any truth to that statement.

Backspacing does not measure wheel width.
