On my 04 I am about to put my Dorman pan in that Blaine bunged for me. I bought a Lube Locker gasket. On that number #5 hole, can I use RTV with the LL gasket? Am I using thread locker on the threads and just some RTV smeared under the bolt head that contacts the trans pan? I don't want to get RTV all over the LL gasket.

I just put some RTV on the threads of the bolt only. Some may have squished out towards my lube locker gaskets, but it wouldn’t have been much.

Well, it's installed. I just used a little blue loctite at the end of the threads and a little grey high temp RTV under the bolt head. Hopefully it works. The damn Dorman drain plug is leaking. FFUUU

If I remember correctly, I just used some Permatex Ultra Black on the threads. I think you’ll be ok. May just have to clean some RTV off the gasket during the next change.

@Nutro , if you’re using the brass washer that came with the Dorman pan, you may want to try swapping it out with this drain plug washer. I read the reviews on the pan and many said the copper washer leaked. So far I’ve not had any leaks with this washer coming up on 3 years.

I just picked up my very first Jeep (05 TJ). The tranny pan gasket is leaking. I'm leaning toward the Lube Locker; however, can someone explain why the rubber seal on their gasket is on the outside of the bolt holes (see photo)? All gaskets I've ever changed on my other cars have the rubber on the inside of the bolt holes so oil doesn't leak out of them.
