Nope but my BDUs could stand on their own

We still had the pickle suit when I joined along with khakis. I looked DAMN sharp in a set of starched khakis. The cotton fatigues were the best for heavy starch.

When BDU's first came out you were NOT allowed to starch them as it was supposed to ruin something in the fabric. But after about 2 years all that went out the window and based on the post it was required.

Starch removed some of the IR reducing properties of the BDU (summer version not affected). Bragg would run troops single file in front of an IR camera every so often to check for starch. Automatic AR15 if you "glowed" when you went past.

Disclaimer - I was not with the 82nd, just did some training and LFXs with the 3/4th ADA.

Yep that was it. And yes at first it was a AR15 offense. Then after about 6 years of them being out no one seemed to care anymore and everyone required your to starch them.

Then the ACUs and muskrats (suede boots) came out - no starching OR polishing. Whole country went to shit shortly thereafter.

Edit: Forgot about the berets - I think that's when the whole gender identity thing started.
