Urethane Flat Fender Flares

Hey All,

I am looking to replace my bushwacker flat fenders. Are these a similar material? My rocksliders run fender to fender. Are these pretty flexible? Also, will the upkeep be easier than the bushwackers? As far as the faded look?

I installed the same vinyl fenders from Bushwhacker and they lasted just one day on the trail. If you expect to get into trails where you might have to squeeze by an obstacle I'd consider something else.

I wanted to go with genright. But then i saw the picture if your fenders (Jerry) and I think I would cry if I did that to some Genright aluminum fenders. How do they hold up in similar situations? My wife would punch me in my throat for destroying some 2000 dollar fenders.

I've been having same dilemma. Those aluminum Genrights look great. At least poly breaks and is cheap to replace. I have 6" Xenon I smashed pretty good and they sanded out no problem, can't tell they dragged a rock. I have seen @MrBlain say steel fenders will bend the tub before they give. Not sure about aluminum?

Aluminum and steel will function about the same. In normal slow speed scraping a tree or rock they will hold up fine. In a slow speed flop they will protect the rig. In a more violent flop or roll they will press in on the grill or tub and bend those parts. They saved my rig in this slow flop. These are aluminum 4” GR up front. I’m very glad I had them rather than my previous MCE’s. I would have destroyed my hood and door without them

Thanks for that reply. How much damage did you have from this? Flip it over and good to go?

Vinyl is much different than Urethane. Urethane is much tougher. I would be curious to hear if anyone has broken the KBD fenders?

I've bumped mine a couple times, bent the sheetmetal underneath, and the flares are fine. I'm really happy with them aside from the prep required to get paint to stick. They used a LOT of mold release and cleaning all that up took quite a bit of time.

I am interested in the Xenon and KBD. Which one holds up better to sun and rock damage?

I do not plan on painting them at least not right away.

I have the KBD`s unpainted and I like them however, there is some whiteness appearing on the tops like when you bend plastic back and forth. I talked to KBD and they will send new ones but I have to show that I cut each one in 3 pieces. They do have a lifetime warranty.

Why do you have to show that you cut them?

Is that how they warranty them?

Any sagging to them?

How have they held up against rocks?

That is how they warranty them. There isn`t any sagging to them at all. I haven`t kissed any rocks yet but I have leaned into some crunchy snow or sierra cement with no issues. They also help keep the water from slinging onto you.

Ok. Thank you.

I didn't realize you had to cut them into pieces to warranty them.

Very little damage. The A-pillar was bashed in. I put GR A-Pillar armor over it.

The rear quarter panel of the tub was bent in (I didn’t have a rear GR flare at that time, so it just laid over on the corner armor. Without a backing plate it dented the tub in, but I was able to bend it out, paint, and it’s straight again and unnoticeable.

A few nicks on the top of the door that I touched up. Door was fine!

The roll bar padding was torn in spots and the cage had a few scrapes. I painted them and it looks new. Here are some pics:
