Considering selling extremely clean TJ

No idea of CO prices but here in Va you might get $15,000 with the lower mileage. No AC and the 2000' head cracking issues are the only negatives. Prices have dropped back to the normal range recently.

head cracking issues? I'm about to buy a 2000, where can I learn more?

edit: just did some research and learned about it. I was told that the engine was rebuilt only 3,000 miles ago, that would explain why.

Question, If I don't see TUPY stamped on the head should I run?

I have a 2000 I purchased about two years ago. Like you, I searched for a while and consumed a lot of gas and tire wear traveling to look at misrepresented specimens offered. Really hard to find one in the NE that hasn't been molested or neglected. This one was stored in the back of a Jeep dealership, inside, and owned and serviced by one of the Master Mechanics that worked there. He bought it new in 2000 and it has lived in the NE all its' life. Probably saw a lot of the outer beaches given how much sand I've found in the rails and behind the bumpers. One other owner who had it for about a year and put 7 miles on it.

Frame was and is near perfect, though I've done Fluid Film and POR15 as preventative given it's my daily driver. Not ready to make it a driveway queen. I bought it with 56k on the clock and just turned 80k. I can't imagine driving anything else in the warm weather.. I smile like a little kid every time I get in it. A little challenging in the NE winters but even with soft top only I am thoroughly happy driving it. Not a spot of rust (I replaced the passenger front fender when a small bubble appeared). Re-geared from 3.73's to 4.56's.. likely the best mod I have done. Right now, it needs nothing. Paint is on the low end of 'almost perfect', the engine bay could use a good detailing and I just started to hear a rattle at the tailgate that I need to trace down, but otherwise I get in, drive and smile. Toying with changing the bumpers, but then I think.. why? Stockers are period correct and work as needed.

Not trying to sound like a douche, but I can drive pretty much anything that tickles my fancy and I choose the TJ. My friends, wife and daughter bust my balls all the time. But Regret is a wicked bitch. I avoid her at all costs. So no plans to sell it any time soon.

that jeep’s lookin good. love the wheels, had the same on a dodge truck once. what brand yellow lights, how do you like them? thinkin about a set for my rig. they would be sitting just a bit higher on my bumpers hoop. really wonder if their performance would be affected being mounted that high up.

The lights on the bumper are classic KC Daylighters. I wanted to keep with the age of the vehicle vs using LEDs. Also, I thought it was good for snow melt with the huge amount of heat. I can tell you that they are really powerful. We don't have much light pollution here and the spot beam goes forever.

Oh my heck! That is a gorgeous jeep! I live in Colorado too but more towards the Royal Gorge area. AC is nice to have here but I usually drive mine without the AC or at least sparingly. I would ask between $15,000 - $20,000. Start high and work your way down if you must. I would love another TJ!

Lights are Hella 500FF Driving lights. The yellow tint is from LaminX though Hella makes their own which is more amber than yellow and are a bit thicker offering a little more rock protection. I have the Hella tint but haven't installed it yet.

Too high and you might get some bad reflection in rain and snow. Just aim them down I guess. Mine are aimed centered between the headlights and project just a bit beyond.

It was important to me to remain period correct. I had tried three sets of LEDs prior and.. I loved the bright white color. Hated the patterns on all of them. Some had no pattern at all. And, hated the transformer look. Switched to Holley Retro Bright LEDs. Love them. Can't tell they aren't H4's or sealed beams so perfectly period correct, yet with LED technology.

The Hella's give me the needed heat for snow melt if the Holley's get iced over.

MikekiM, excellent wheel choice.

Is it any surprise that if you ask a bunch of Jeep nuts if you should keep your excellent condition Jeep; that they all say "keep it"

Duh !!

LOL.. yeah I guess that is a factor to consider.

The wheels are PITA to keep looking good.. I do what I can. I do want to change to 15x8.5's instead of 10's but can't lie, I would get the same wheel again. Anyone want to trade?

Too nice! no one will want it to 4 wheel it.

I would hit that.

Hello all!

Figured I would post this here first. I have been considering selling my 2000 TJ Sport 5 speed with full metal doors and hardtop and wanted to put some feelers out there about the Jeep. The vehicle is in exceptional mechanical condition. I live in Steamboat Springs, CO and was lucky enough to find a local single owner 33k ish miles Jeep in June of 21. The owners built a second home here and bought it new at the local dealer. It was kept in a heated garage and meticulously serviced. The prior owner builds airplanes for fun so well cared for to say the least. All the fenders and bumpers are original if that gives you any sense of the condition.

Since I purchased it, I have gone through it extensively updating all key parts like plugs etc. The vehicle is in exceptional mechanical condition with no leaks whatsoever. The interior and exterior are excellent. The exterior does have rock chips, but the paint condition overall is great. I bought about $800 of detailing equipment from auto geek and did paint correction detailing. On the inside, I stripped everything out and deep cleaned it. The carpets are original and the seats are like new. I ordered custom Bartact seat covers with red stitching to make it look more sleek. The frame and underbody are great. I put in a new Alpine and JL audio system. I have all the original radio parts which are perfect. I also put new 31x10.50 BFG KO2s on it along with a new tire mount to hold the 31s. KC daylights headlights and aux lights along with new stainless rings on the headlamps. I have the original brake light as well as I put a round one in the tire. Two options that are not on the vehicle are a 44 axle and AC. Out here, you don't need AC so it hasn't been something I cared for and less likely to break. I had a 99 TJ Sport in college with an AC that constantly needed work.

Overall, I love the Jeep a ton and had shopped for one like this for over a year. The car is generally only driven for fun and on occasion to the airport here as I travel for work a lot. We are essentially a 1 car household and I feel like I need to get a daily driver due to extensive travel for work. This Jeep is a head turner. I am still figuring out the price given condition and history. I am also struggling to list it and figured I would see if anyone here or a friend was looking for a factory like wrangler. Message me if you are interested. I put a few shots showing the condition. Lots more to share here, but will stop for brevity. Love jeeps and have owned 3 since 2000.

Sounds like quite the burden. I'll give you 5000$ to end your suffering. Consider it a down payment on mental wellbeing!

eagle one never dull is what i used on the wheels i had like yours. those wheels do look better in the 15X10 i think.

I do like the look of 15x10 wheels.. that's why I bought them. But hindsight being 20/20, a 15x8.5 would have aligned with the edges of the flare more closely and I think that is better overall look for the Jeep.

I use Flitz Polish. They make a great set of polishing wheels as well. One key to getting a good polish is heat. I put the polishing balls, pads and wheels in pneumatic die grinder for max rpms. Works amazing. I then apply the Flitz Ceramic spray. Not sure how much that helps but I have it, Flitz says use it, so I do...

When they are clean they scream...

Hahah!!! Sorry I didn’t close the loop! Nope! You all talked me out of it! Going to for sure keep it another year and likely more!

If you do decide to sell it... Consider an auction site like Bring a Trailer or Cars and bids. Something in this condition will reach a better audience for buyers on those sites imo

Seems like there’s a reoccurring theme in this forum where members regret selling their TJ/LJ. If you enjoy your rig and don’t need the money, I’d seriously consider if you will fall into that category if you sell it.

It’s not too late to renew your vows.
