I'm installing an autometer trans temp gauge and it says to use a good engine ground. I went ahead and just grounded it on the transfer case shifter handle bolt. I don't think that is gong to work haha. I crawled under the Jeep and looked around the trans pan area and I see NO smaller size bolts to use for a ground. Where did y'all ground your Autometer gauges?

Do you know it doesn't work?

My auto meter trans temp gauge is grounded to the tunnel cover with no indication of it not working.

Well, so I started the Jeep and let it idle for about 10 minutes while putting in drive and back to park but the gauge never moved. It was only 75 degrees outside today and I haven't drive it yet but I figured it should have at least climbed to 100 or above.

All I know is that mine takes quite a while driving around before the needle starts to move at all. I do have a large auxiliary cooler that has so far kept the trans below 150F.

If you haven't driven anywhere to actually warm up the transmission, you don't know if the gauge works or not.

I installed an Auto Meter trans temp gauge just a few weeks ago. The sensor grounds through the treads. For the gauge ground, you may want to check with a multimeter but your ground is probably fine.

It takes some time for the transmission to get to 100°. You'll want to drive around for a while to confirm the needle moves.

I guess I should dirty delete this to save face? Haha I finally got to drive it. With the aux cooler she doesn't go over 140 degrees granted, it's only 80 degrees out. Thanks guys!
