My wife's iPhone has a British accent and says "torch on" for the flashlight. It reminds me of the human torch in the Fantastic Four movies. Flame on!

With my accent if I said 'flashlight on' it could sound like 'fleshlight on' and cause a few issues. :censored: lol

Ok...edited up and posted Rope Testing Vol 2...uploading now...

I set it for a premier at 6 pm PST. Not sure @mrblaine can join us...but hey let's party on YouTube chat and you can see if I fixed the mess I made the first time...if I can tie a Brummel splice and when I choose to ignore the wisdom of others...

Friends wife's blower stopped working on her TJ. He replaced the blower motor, resistor pack, HVAC switch.....he's the "let's fire the parts cannon" sort of guy. It took me a hot minute to understand the circuit, but eventually figured out that we were only getting like 0.2V at the blower motor. Tested the relay, no issues there, & had good grounds and continuity just about everywhere. Finally realized I had access to the bottom side of the relay plug and found that I barely had any voltage there either. Hit it with contact cleaner & compressed air........and then actually turned the fan to an "on" setting, and everything came to life.

Probably a couple of factors at play:

1. dirty contacts at the relay
2. he had done so much haphazard troubleshooting that I took it for granted that he had the fan on. I'm sure he did at some point, but apparently it got moved somewhere along the way. He had that component removed from the HVAC panel so you couldn't just look at it and tell if it was on.
3. His switch plug had been damaged so he had everything sort of manually attached with spades, except for the 12ga green wire, which he had alligator clipped in with an 18ga wire. It's a wonder it didn't melt, but when we eliminated the tiny wire it came to life.

All three things were corrected at roughly the same time so it's hard to say if one or more were actually the combined culprit(s).

Started to tear down the engine I pulled out last week. I can’t even get it to turn by hand now. Maybe from sitting outside in the rain for a couple days but when I drained the oil I didn’t see any water or anything so maybe I just got lucky pulling it when I did. I’ll pull the pan and take the head off to get a better picture of what’s going on inside. The valve cover gasket was an old rubber one with what looked like some old crusty gasket maker on top of it. The water pump was good internally. The insides of the ports on the head are all silver inside which is crazy to me. All the rockers and the push rods seem straight so it’s gotta be a piston issue or a bearing issue I would guess at this point.

I also started working on some steps for the wife. Since I lifted the Jeep another inch plus the upcoming body lift she’s having a hard time getting up into the Jeep lol my old plastic steps were broken and when I patched the frame up I just tossed them in my spare Jeep parts pile. I had the idea to drill holes and put some nutserts in the holes and then bolt them to the metal tubing/ supports that they were originally mounted on. I’ll cut the bolts flush with the steps and then either weld them to the frame or put some nutserts in the frame like they came from the factory. Welds would probably be sufficient and rust less than more holes and bolts but I guess I’ll burn that bridge when I get to it

Local guy upgraded to PSC so I picked up his Power steering pump with ~75k miles.

Of course as I start to get this one cleaned up, I noticed the pulley is cracked but otherwise looks in good condition. Since I’m already pulling the serpentine belt and everything is original (37k miles) I’m planning to replace pulley, belt, idler, tensioner, anything else while I’m in there, or if not broke don’t mess with?
