Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

Dang, coulda cut them up and saved some money on tubing for the jeep! lol

That would have been funny if I could have.

So... never? It never really ends does it. lol. It'll feel good I bet, how often are you frustrated looking for shit? That's typically the indicator that my garage is too messy and has too much shit it in for me

OK done with the Face Lift.....

I really need to clean up and reorganize the whole garage. Ask @kiwi He'll tell you what a mess it is right now.

I've got too much stuff and not enough room. Heck I had to rent a storage unit this winter.

We have sucess... Y pipe fits like it should.

Transmission clearance is good.

Crossover with flex pipe clears the oil pan.

It all fits nicely.

Driveshaft comes close to the down pipe but does clear it.

Oil filter can be changed without having to drop the exhaust.

Now I just need to figure out how I can strap it to the back of my bike to take over to get powder coated.

I've still got to install the O2 bungs and make a short section of pipe to raise it up over the crossmembers.
That was what was making it bind up yesterday. I was trying to raise it up and it can't while clearing the oil pan at the same time.

This is my solution to getting the exhaust pipe above the crossmembers.

It appears to solve the problem. But won't know 100% until I get it tacked together.

I should add that another TJ owner who did the 408 build and went to 3" exhaust had to do a similar thing on his exhaust.

What are we looking at here. Is it that taper + weird bend that you had to do?

It's just a thought...Have you considered getting a piece of 3" flex tubing to mock up with then you could do all your cuts and adjustments on the bench?

Something like one of these..

It's my redneck solution for a short bend. I'm not sure if you could even bend it.

If I had a muffler shop bend pipe for me it'd have kinks in it where it'd reduce the diameter of the pipe. So this fixes the problem.
3" pipe is huge under a TJ.
At least to me it is.

Sounds like your real exhaust restriction is gonna be the headers no matter what you do anyways, so unless you can find a way to fit your better ones this probably won't matter much if at all

Yes I'm still disappointed that I couldn't get the shorties to work. But I'm moving on and will deal.
For how this engine was built I'm not sure how much I'm giving up.
Won't know until I have it on the dyno.
I'm trying to prepare myself to not be disappointed if the numbers come in lower than I expect.
But honestly how much power does a TJ need?
Of course @NashvilleTJ or @Apparition will say as much as you can get....

Could you setup a real small trickle to give a little extra power at low RPMs without blowing everything up

I could do a 50HP shot I think without blowing shit up.

Let's get the damn thing running and driving before I'm trying to add more power.

Whatever the numbers are, it will end up spinning your tires very capably and will sound much cooler than a 4.0. 😁

We were having a serious thunder and lightning storm a few minutes ago and the power just went out.
So no work until it's restored.
Power company says 5PM right now to have the power back on.
