What did you do to your TJ today?

Installed front shaft

Finally got warm enough here to make stickers stick...so I cleaned the crap out of the underside of the hood and stuck away.

Then took the Jeep into town for a Dorman oil cooler for the wife's JK and then out into the woods into BLM land to scout an RV they want to pay me and my neighbor to dismantle and dispose. We volunteer to remove a lot of them... apparently they have so many they're willing to pay good money to accelerate the process.

That Roadkill sticker.

Well started to install Kicker 6 3/4" components in the OH pods. The Polks have given up the ghost. They are rattling very bad. I guess 160w+ might be too much for them. They played well for a few months.
I did discover the Kicker 6 3/4" 47KSS6704 screw location matches up with the Polks. Also these Kickers can be run in a Coaxial configuration.
I'll have to enlarge the holes in my baffles and have them powdercoated.

Was time to do the post-winter polishing of the ProComps. Used the full Flitz line which, given the numerous products I have tried over many years of various polished aluminum wheels, seems to be the best and easiest.

Before and after...

Followed @Woodrow and went center-capless and switched to black Gorilla locks all around.

Also had a chance to install the steering wheel I had reskinned by Chris at LeatherGoods.com. He was great to work with. On a scale of 1:10 I give the wheel an 8. It's wider grip feels fantastic (had him do 4.25" circumference all the way around the wheel). The leather is nice enough. Stitching is far better than I would have done, I'm sure.

Why not a 10? It's it bit shinier than the boot and armrest I got from Redline, and a bordering on squishy with the added padding.

I still have the original wheel which is in great condition, and the RedlineGoods wheel wrap which matches the boot and armrest perfectly. I may take my time with trying to reskin the OE wheel.. or not.

I’ve got to do my summer wheel polishing too, do you do yours by hand or have you found some kind of power tool that works well? I’ve tried the polishing balls that you use with a drill and don’t think they work well. Kills my fingers doing them all by hand though.

Went out to get a haircut today and went to start it for the return journey and ‘click’ ….. nothing. .. got it jumpstarted and I made it home again.
Thought it may have been the old battery that had finally given up the ghost and I was right… ☹️ not bad though as I have had it for five years !!
Got a new shiny one now and the Jeep is as sweet as a nut once again.

That was one expensive haircut 😂

Haven't afforded one yet. Need me some double adjustable control arms. Barn first this summer unless you want to subscribe to my YouTube channel. 700 more people and YT pays for Jeep parts, a drone, lav mics and gas... probably in that order...

Days of doing them purely with elbow grease are gone. Heat is your friend if you're looking for a mirror finish and Flitz recommends a tool turning at least 1800 rpm. I doubt my cordless exceeds a third of that and it works just fine. I use Flitz Metal Pre Clean to get the stuck on surface dirt off. The Flitz polish applied with the 5" Flitz Buff Ball inserted into a die grinder or power drill. I use a Mother's Power Ball in the holes, only because I have it, but it is starting to break down. Gentle hand wipe to remove the residue is all that is needed. Then I hit them with the Flitz Ceramic Sealent and let them cure.

I used to hate polishing my aluminum wheels. I did them by hand, then buffed them with a polishing ball. They blinded drivers when I got done with them.
