Hi Gang - Revised Messages and NEW photos very bottom .... My apologies, I originally 'barrowed' earlier photos (was not able to to use my camera until now) .... The original question:

"Is it safe/wise to brush a light coat of Rust Buster directly onto the outside surface of the port section?"

Your advice was to REPLACE the rails and Injectors - Please see NEW Photos and message very bottom...

Thank you for your Patience :)

I pulled mine when I replaced my injectors and cleaned it up and painted it. Remember...gas... flammable...spark...bad...and injector rail... contamination...bad...

Your rust looks worse than mine.

I don't know if you have a shrader test valve. Might want to consider purchasing an aftermarket rail with a test port.

Mine had some corrosion and rust on it as well. I found a NOS Mopar rail on Rock auto and replaced it. I also painted it before installing, because the Black zinc they used from the factory didn't look great.

Hi Gang

I have a 2004 Wrangler 4.0 - I've read a commom problem can be RUSTED Injector Rail Inlets (as seen here in a wide view).

Is it safe/wise to brush a light coat of Rust Buster directly onto the outside surface of the port section? The corrosion includes 'Pitting' as well .......

Thank You

I'd probably remove it before using any rust converter or other harsh chemicals that may compromise your o rings or injectors.or just get another rail from outside of the salt belt. Buy a set of new orings for the install.

Thanks for your patience - was able to snap ACTUAL photos of my own Jeep showing the SHIELDS need replacement (oil deposit from older leak). Valve cover and gasket were since replaced. While I'm at it perhaps (still) replace injector rail with NEW injectors? I've read (when looking to save $$ its preferable to buy an OEM Rail used), rather than Chinese or Imported on Ebay ... True? However cleaning used injectors is another issue? Here's a USED OEM Rail (with injectors). And here's a CROWN Rail

Thanks Again! :)

I believe I have a spare low-mile fuel rail off my 2006 I’d let go. Let me know if you’re interested.
