Tested the factory lockers and they aren’t working properly. Pumps turn on back t never stop running. I’ll check the air lines tomorrow but I have a feeling the gear installer installer didn’t hook air lines correctly to the locker. I regret the decision to keep these stock axles instead of selling and putting the funds towards better axles.

I prefer the HP44 to the LP44 for clearance reasons. My XJ and YJ both have HP30 and my TJ had the HP44 from Currie. That extra couple inches of clearance is appreciated.

I bet you could sell your front axle for a pretty penny, and be halfway toward the price of a Currie44.

I've been on the fence for a while about "de-Rubiconing" my Rubicon and building something a little different. My dilemma has always been should I sell what I have and buy something diffferent, or just work with what I have.

started working on the pinion angles today and was frustrated dealing with the single adjustable arms. Ordered a set of eight aluminum arms from savvy this afternoon. Thankfully I live 100 miles from their shop so I’ll have the arms Friday.

I need to figure out the locker pumps. Front locker worked fine prior to the regear and now the pump runs and doesn’t shut off. Pretty sure gear installed failed to hook up the air lines internally within both axles.

Fixed the front locker this evening. The air line inside the differential was loose si I tightened the small clamp. Good thing I inspected the diff because the gear oil was about 2” below the fill hole.

Planning to remove the rear diff cover tomorrow to see if that line is also disconnected.

Finished the exhaust system this morning and also welded the locker pump bracket to the transfer case skid. Took the rig for a test drive and it rides smooth with straight steering and no vibrations.

Received my Savvy aluminum arms this weekend. Planning to install this weekend in preparation for the Memorial Day weekend Cal4wheel event near Barstow.

Will put the Metalcloak arms up for sale once removed. Only about 2,000 miles on the MC arms so hopefully they’ll have some value.

Just read thread from start to finish. You're not f@#king about are you 😂 Inspirational clarity of thought and work rate.

I have owned quite a few TJs, YJs, and CJs over the past 30 years and went into this build with a well-defined plan. Most of the parts I replaced were still fully functional I just opted to replace given the age of the rig. Easier to replace parts in the garage that on the side of the road 500 miles from home. As these parts get harder to find I’ll have a decent stash of functional used replacement parts.

Participated in a desert off-roading trip this weekend and the LJ performed well. I’m doing another test run next month before running the Rubicon trail in late July.

I was impressed with the way the LJ handled on the freeway. The extra length of the LJ wasn’t a negative off-road. Pretty happy with the results overall.

I would be interested to experience the difference in an LJ. But it wasn't sold in the UK. My guess is that it wasn't made in right hand drive, we get a fair few TJs exported from Japan but never seen an LJ come from there either.

You've done a great job transforming this LJ into something awesome. You're giving me the bug to spend some money on my own LJ even though I don't need to.

Get the rig ready for the Jeepers Jamboree in a couple weeks. Removed the hard top, installed half doors I found on Craigslist, and installed the spiderweb shade.

Also decided to toss the metal cloak trackbar and swap in a Currie unit. Need to weld a patch over the huge hole drilled in the trackbar axle side bracket for the metal cloak trackbar. I’ll take care of that before heading out to the Big Bear Jeep Jamboree later this week.
